About this ebook

Gross Anatomy is one of the most difficult subjects in the world with an almost inconceivable amount of information to retain, it can be quite daunting. However, if you have the right strategy, your study time will be cut in half and your retention will increase exponentially. This book does not just teach you what to study, it teaches you HOW TO study. After spending a decade teaching gross anatomy to students from many different professions (e.g. MD's, OT's, PA's, PT's), Dr. Marcos Berrios Arredondo has designed a specific strategy to maximize retention and understanding of human anatomy. This book compiles that approach and includes the necessary diagrams to begin using that strategy today.

Inside you will find:

  • 22 page primer outlining the strategy from A-Z
  • 322 fill-in-the-blank bony landmarks on bone diagrams of the upper extremity, lower extremity, back, and thorax
  • 22 labeled bone diagrams for reference
  • 214 muscle diagrams that walk you through each muscle compartment, layer by layer
  • 107 draw-yourself muscle diagrams with skeleton and attachment sites as guide

The Gross Anatomy Study Strategy Volume I - Marcos Berrios Arredondo, MD

How to Use This Book Series

‘The GROSS ANATOMY Study Strategy’ is a book series created for the student of Human Gross Anatomy. Whether in medical school, PA school, PT, OT schools, or undergraduate gross anatomy, this content is tailored for you. The study of human anatomy is likely to be one of the most daunting topics you will encounter in the study of the medical sciences.

Luckily, it doesn’t have to be.

There is already a lot you have to study; my intention with this book is not to give you another reference manual of anatomical facts to refer to. My intention is to provide you with a strategy for assimilating the immense amount of knowledge that is human anatomy in the most efficient way I know.

    First and foremost,

    Function Matters.

The human body is a biological machine. Like all machines, the human body was created to carry out a function. The function of a machine is dictated by its structure, and vice versa.

Because of this, you cannot study the structure of the human body divorced of its function.

The first volume of this series ‘The Primer’ is dedicated to making sure the terminology of movement is clear for the student, in this way we could proceed to discussing the anatomical structures in relation to their real-life function to make the material become alive and applicable to everyday life.

The Sequence in Which You Learn Anatomy Matters

The human body is a structure, and like any structure, the order in which you build the components of this structure, matters. Foundation comes first. For the human body, this foundation is the bones. Atop the bones are muscles that attach from one site of bone to another site of bone. Nerves and arteries snake their way through and around these muscles and bones as the electrical and plumbing systems of this machine.

The sequence in which the volumes of this series are organized is intentional. Follow this sequence in studying your material and you will be successful.

‘The Primer’ lays the groundwork for understanding the movements of the human body.

‘Volume I: Bone & Muscle’ takes you through how you should tackle learning the bones, with labeled and fill-in-the blank diagrams, this will provide the
