    Dear reader, Webster dictionary defines gambling as An enterprise undertaken or attempted with a risk of loss and a chance of profit or success. At tribal casinos, just like any other, the odds are on the side of the casino ownership. My colleagues and I would like to put information in your hands that will help increase your odds of winning. That in no way ensures you of success every time you play. Were that true, the casinos could not exist.

    I and three others have researched gaming at tribal casinos in Oklahoma for the last ten years, mostly the northeastern part of the state. The eight casinos we predominately researched were owned by the Cherokee, Osage, and Creek tribes. Although the slots in the casinos varied, they appeared consistent in the manner they played. For that reason, I will not refer to specific machines or tribal casinos in this book.

    Two of us played more of the three-reel-- quarter, dollar, and five-dollar and up machines. The other two worked more with the penny, multi-reel machines. Of the two who played the penny slots, the gentlemen seldom took more than $40. In a one-year span, he paid off a vehicle, bought both a laptop and a desktop computer, bought software, 2 TVs, a sofa, a recliner, and a home theater system. The other multi-reel player averaged around six-hundred per night gross in winnings. The player who worked the larger denomination and machines containing fewer reels averaged 15-24 jackpots of $1400 or above per month in a one-year period. I also played the larger denomination machines. On more than one occasion I have jackpotted twice in one night, and overall, I averaged over $700 per night played.
