      Death

       I have travelled far and wide,

      to meet you, my old friend.

      To the depths of the abyss,

      I have gone.

      Dark as dark,

      Black as black,

      Under the night sky.

      Creatures lurking in the under growth,

      of my intoxicating thoughts.

      The call of Erebus,

      dragging me closer,

      to meet my end.

      There is no beginning,

      There is no end.

      Just darkness and in this darkness,

      comes the quiet stillness of life.

      Purity of mind, body and soul,

      becoming one.

      The rhythmic heartbeat of life.

      Giving a silent pause.

      A moment of emptiness,

      entrance into the void.

      I am free.

      There is nothing.

      I am alone.

      I am drifting.

      I am no longer afraid.

      The breath of Nephthys is upon my cheeks.

       I am at peace in my world.

       and I embrace death in my arms.

      Shadows

      Deep within the darkness of my soul,

      lies the emotion of despair.

      I am desperate.

      I am drowning in a pool of blood.

      This darkness keeps drawing me down,

      deep down to the pit of the chaos.

      And showing me things, I do not wish to see.

      In this lake of darkness.

      I see myself staring back at me.

      An image I cannot stand.

      Cruel and twisted fate.

      Misery profound,

      in my tortured pain.

      Fear, anxiety, self-doubt, worthlessness,

      clawing its way at my mind.

      Wide eyed, trembling lips.

      I sit upon the seat of fate and wait my turn.

      Can Maat, hear my whisper?

      I am panicked.

      I am alone,

      I am afraid.

      I see no future, there is no hope.

      I must rest here for a while.

      How long I ask myself.

      Just a day or two,

      or perhaps forever.

      I do not know.

      I am numb.

      I am exhausted.
