About this ebook
I wish I'd had Aussie English and Culture by Luke Zimmerman when my Australian husband decided to pack up our little family and move back home to Australia! I'd grown up there but left at 11 years of age. Returning as an adult, I suffered a year of culture shock. For those planning to visit Australia, or even more so, contemplating moving there, it would be advisable to invest in a copy of Aussie English and Culture and read it.

Just returned from a 4-week trip to OZ. This book was useful in getting me ready to communicate with people. The biggest problem I had is that many Aussies mumble. This makes their accent even more difficult to understand, especially for one with hearing impairment.

Many thanks
To my dear wife, Jenny, for helping me come to grips with Aussie English and the Aussie culture and her charming wit in the whole process.
To my friends Harry and Sarah Tawse for proofreading the script, their corrections and suggestions.
To my friend David Ritson for redesigning the cover of this book.
To all my students who unwittingly gave me the ideas and experiences described in this book.
