      I can barely speak when I see him standing there, looking at me sitting like a deer in the headlights in his waiting room. He’s so handsome, and even in the long white coat he’s wearing, I can tell he’s very fit. He must look like a fitness model underneath that boxy coat no matter how much he tries to hide it. He’s not fooling any girl, least of all me, and I can feel my heart fluttering in my chest as he speaks again.

      Miss Dawson? He repeats, looking down at me as he holds the clipboard in his hands. I’m the only one here, so he knows it’s me.

      I stand up on shaky legs and feel myself blushing as I approach him. Hi, I say.

      I’m Doctor Jay. He smiles at me. How you doing today? Rough weather, huh?

      Sure is. It’s supposed to snow eight more inches tonight.

      Hope you don’t have to drive anywhere tomorrow. You know how they are about plowing the roads here.

      Oh, I just moved here, so it’s my first winter.

      Uh-oh. You got four-wheel drive?

      No, I laugh. I drive an old little car from the nineties. It’s a miracle I managed to get it up the mountain pass on my way up here.

      Right this way, he says, nodding down the hallway. I follow him towards the examination room. Take a seat for me, please. So what brings you to Dansonville?

      Oh, I just wanted a change. Picked a random place on the map. I know it sounds cheesy, but I needed to get away from the city and find some peace and quiet.
