The Power of God's Love - Peter Msule

    Acknowledgement

"The power of God's love is a true evidence of how God's love works within the body of Christ here on earth. This book has been a corporate labour of many faithful brethren who decided to stoop down to aid a weaker vessel to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith God has called me.

Worthy of mention are Elder Jonathan O. Onigbinde, who despite his tight schedule wrote down the rather challenging forward; apart from other various forms of encouragements toward this humble work. Brother Sam Akaakaa, Sister Juliet Kaaba, Mr. Job Hilekaan helped with the editing and proofreading. Mama Mary Terry, Dr. Philip Binga, and Brother Rai Cheure, rewrote, restated, many a sentence through SMS.

Brother Jerry Adams held many unplanned night vigils with me typing the handwritten scripts. He also handled the initial type-setting and cover design.

I'm also grateful to Sis. Lizzy Dogun, in whose comfortable house I received the first inspiration for this book. Sister Rafkatu James; my land lady's gentle spirit greatly encouraged me as I wrote the manuscripts of this book in the serene atmosphere of her beautiful house; mostly late into the nights.

My daughters - Wamdai and Iveren cheerfully served my meals especially tea courteously. My wife Mary stood by me all the way from the first inspiration to the last word of this book, we share the ideas freely... May God Bless you all. Amen.

Finally, I sincerely praise the Lord, for the grace He poured into this poor heart of mine and for counting me faithful to serve this necessary meal to His Church here on earth. Blessed Be His Holy Name Forever. Amen

    Foreword

    ––––––––

THE  POWER  OF  GOD's  LOVE  is  so  overwhelming in its Depth, its Height, its Width, and its Greatness, that no human mind can fathom it, although some have attempted to describe it, to write about it, and to sing about it. The Love of God, wrote Frederick

    M. Lehman, the famous Song writer in 1917, is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell.

Even the Scriptures testify to this very sweet theme in numerous ways in so many passages of the Holy Book. This is why I find this book The Power of God's Love, by Brother Peter Msule, so engaging. The author, in my view, has crafted a very appealing description of what is probably the most potent force on earth: God's Love.

According to Brother Peter, Love is the greatest need of man; even a wicked man has need of love.

How true! I remember when Madelyn Murray O'Hare died in America; she was the most well known atheist in North America in 1960s. They

found in her cupboard a hand written note, which read thus, Won't anybody ever love me?

To this depth of man's yearning, God has responded by pouring out His love into man's heart and life, such that we all can drink of it. Men can, so can women. Children can partake of God's divine nature, which is love, just as much as adults can. The rich can, and so also the poor! (Matthew 11:28-30, Luke 14:22-23.) The remarkable result is that man is then able to love God, Love his neighbour, no matter which Faith the neighbour is, and also Love his enemies! Starting with John and Peter, and carrying on to us today, as disciples of Jesus, we are transformed into ministers of Love, the Holy Spirit playing a key role as the Vehicle of transfer or Conveyor of God's divine nature to man.

Experiencing the Power of God's love is awesome. It can sometimes come through suffering. Peter Msule relates the experience of Apostle Paul in

2 Corinthians 12, and then his own personal experiences, where he had encounter with God in Scripture, through dreams, and through various other experiences. But it cannot come without Repentance from dead works, a process which,

according to D.L. Moody, includes: Contrition, Conviction, Confession and Conversion from sin and self. And it cannot come without Faith towards God.

Experiencing the Power of God's love is great. It often comes by impartation, the way the vine passes sap through to the branches (John 15) .

Read about the Benefits of Death, death to self, that is! Read about the Shocking Contempla- tions! And also about the amazing similarities between the manifest works of the flesh, and the Octopus! What becomes clear as you get into the book is this; self is probably one's greatest enemy. Many people think the Devil, Satan or Lucifer is your greatest enemy. Brother Msule shows that even if you take out the devil from the world, people will remain sinful and wicked. However if you take self (the sinful nature) from the world, everyone will automatically become holy.

So you may think, How is it possible for weak and vulnerable humans to get so close to the God who dwells in inapproachable light and to have such divine possibilities? Simply, through The Power of God's Love!

Still one wonders, How can someone like this author, who is not very learned, come up with such a great treatise on such a huge subject matter? It's easy. Like another song writer wrote about forgiveness, once you've experienced it (the Power of God's Love) you just want to pass it on .

Remember Frederick M. Lehman? He wrote the song about the Love of God in 1917. Now hear the last stanza of the beautiful song.

"Could we with ink the ocean fill,

And were the skies of parchment made, Were every stalk on earth a quill,

    And every man a scribe by trade; To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry;

Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky. "

I think Peter Msule will readily agree.

    Prologue

    ––––––––

It is always very difficult to convince someone that you love and care for him, especially people who were abused in the past. It takes both time and deliberate efforts at building a friendly relationship before even a spouse is convinced that you truly love and care for him/her. However, once they are convinced, they will labor for you like Jacob did for Rachel because of the love he had for her. (See Gen. 29:20). On the contrary, you do not need any effort to convince anybody that you hate him; the mere mention of it is enough to convince him of your hatred. One of the reasons why it is difficult for people to believe that you love them is because love is hidden; it is not on the surface. Many feel reluctant to accept others' offer of love. They fear (and rightly so) that once you accept love, you'd be obliged to love back. The mystery in eating the fruit of love is that, once eaten, you become indebted to all. To love others also means to serve them. For this

reason many would rather stick to themselves.

If you convince someone that you truly love him/her, both of you will be filled with joy and satisfaction. Again, if you tell someone that you hate him, both of you will feel pain and sorrow. Words are alive and they can reproduce after their kind. Our attitude towards others can also be likened to a meal; but it would make a difference who prepared it. If self (the old sinful nature) serves you a meal, it would be poisonous, no matter its delicious taste. But if the new creation man, (Christ's nature) prepared the meals; they would be appreciated by people. For the lips of a prostitute are as sweet as honey, and smooth flattery is her stock in trade. But afterwards only a bitter conscience is left to you, sharp as a double-edged sword. (Prov 5:3-4 LB).

Love is the greatest need of man; even a wicked man has need of love.
