Introduction
Wicca refers to all forms of modern Pagan Witchcraft. Many people are not aware of what Wicca is or who can be a Wiccan. Witches were persecuted throughout history for being agents of evil or Devil worshippers. Wiccans are not perfect like everyone else, but they are no worse than any other spiritual group. Wicca does not practice satanic worship or Devil worship. Wicca is quite the opposite and has nothing to do with the Dark Arts.
Wicca is a way of life that many people can share, and is a place of acceptance and surrender. Wiccans share these ideals and beliefs. The religion does not recognize hierarchy, leadership or sectarianism. Wicca is a belief system that is open to all religions and ideals. However, it is not limited to any one belief system. It is flexible enough to adapt to your lifestyle, as well as to other belief systems, in order to enhance your existing belief system. Wicca is a religion that developed from Witchcraft. Over time, its main rituals and practices have merged.
Many consider Gerald Gardner as the father and founder of Modern Wicca. Through his initial development and culmination of these ancient practices during the 1940s and 1950s, Gardner and later Doreen Valiente created what we now call Wicca. They were spiritual pioneers who developed the concept of Traditional British Wicca. This was based on a broad, but sometimes controversial, set of ancient pagan beliefs. These included, drawing on Freemasonry, Druidism and shamanic work. Modern science and medicine were also part of this, drawing on the works of Aleister Crowley. The rich, diverse and often misunderstood spiritual faith of Wicca would be influenced by other spiritual leaders in the Wiccan or Pagan community. From the fierce British opposition to the rise of the New Age in the neo-pagan and Wiccan theologies of the 1960s counterculture in America, Wicca has been identified as the most popular and evolving spiritual choice for millions of people.
Although the origins of Wicca are often disputed, the word has Anglo-Saxon roots, meaning wise one.
It later became the Old English term for witch
and many have known Wicca practitioners by this name over the centuries. The original term was adopted to reflect the exploration of the ways of the past and to serve as a record of the origins of Wicca's polytheistic belief system. Today, Wiccans are practitioners of many traditions, including Traditional British Wicca. However, they also embrace many other beliefs and offshoots.
Chapter 1: What is Wicca?
Wicca helps its practitioners to have a closer connection with Mother Earth and Nature. The religion of Wicca fosters awareness, love and respect for the Sun, the Moon, the rivers and winds, the rain, the mountains, the animal kingdom, the flowers, the trees, the ground beneath our feet and the vibrant snow of autumn and winter through its teachings.
Wicca teaches that our entire environment is made up of energy and embraces duality in all of creation. This includes the existence of a God or Goddess, male and female energy, as well as positive and negative. This energy is found throughout the Universe.
Wicca teaches that gods and goddesses live within us. They are seen as gentler entities. They do not hold grudges or punish their children and do not believe in Heaven and Hell. They are caring, understanding people and promote equality and love.
Wicca teaches us that we must take full responsibility for our actions. It does not endorse the use of outside entities such as the Devil to manipulate us into doing bad things.
Karma is the teaching that energy, people and circumstances are the result of what you have put into the world. Wiccans do not believe in Satan or other representations of evil. These concepts are often part of Christian teachings. It is not a path that leads to wisdom, knowledge, peace, wisdom or divinity. Wicca teachings encourage individuals to choose their own path and seek guidance. This philosophy is based on the belief that Nature and Life are sacred, and deserve respect no matter how they manifest.
Wiccan Spells
Wiccan spells can be divided into two distinct types, with White Magic
being associated with high and reflective points and Dark Magic
usually being associated with evil love and loathing.
Wiccans believe that the casting of magical spells is an essential law of nature. It is a law that we cannot seem to understand. Devotees of the Wiccan religion do not know all the secrets of their magic. However, they do know that it works and have experienced it for themselves.
Wiccans often refer to Wiccan spells and Wiccan magic simply as the art of making changes happen in accordance with one's will.
Wiccan refers to anyone who practices the Wiccan Religion.
A Wiccan spell refers to any training or ritualized occasion that causes measurable changes within the physical or enthusiastic circle in accordance with the goals and intentions of at least one Wiccan who is casting the spell.
Wiccan magical spells are generally rehearsed and include love spells and repair spells.
The Wiccan Sacred Circle
Wiccans often cast spells in ceremonial practices called Sacred Circle
to make changes in their lives.
A Sacred Circle that has been blessed by Wiccans contains vitality and energy to cast spells. It can also be used to create an obstacle .
Making a ring of salt or chalk is one way to create Sacred Circles. Some Wiccans make a circular line in the earth.
Wiccan spells are used to achieve an altruistic result in most cases. Most Wiccan magical spells are for good and not evil.
The Law of Triple Return
This is the Wiccan Rede that basically says if you do no harm, do what you will.
Many Wiccans also believe in the Law of Triple Return, a component of Wiccan ethics.
