Dedication
To my daughters, Brittney Couture and Jordan Couture, who continue to be my greatest inspiration; thank you for your endless love and patience. Your love of the Lord and diligence to follow Christ daily through the never-ending challenges and opportunities of life is amazingly courageous!
Preface
I have worked and served in the mental health industry for almost two decades. In the last 5–10 years, I have seen significant changes and challenges in America’s political and social structures that have caused a devastating ripple effect in managed health care practices, particularly related to mental health protocols. I am hopeful this reading gives opportunity to those who consider its merit a template or protocol to follow in order to secure mental health and well-being
through experiential knowledge based on the Holy Word.
I challenge everyone and anyone reading these words to hold fast to the following for a minimum of 30 days! I will agree (or make consideration for the sake of the challenge) that everything in the Holy Bible is true and inspired by God.
If you are a Christian who believes some or part of the Holy Word but not other parts; or if you are a Christian who agrees to most
of the Holy Word with minimal participation
in Christian practices; or even if you are not a Christian — possibly you are an atheist or agnostic — I challenge you to begin a journey of 30 days committing to the idea that the Holy Bible is the ultimate Truth and Scripture is inspired by God
and see what happens! Nothing can be lost — if, in fact, at the end or at any time during the 30-day 10-step challenge you decide to move in another direction, do so; however, I know fully that you will be positively affected and blessed beyond measure by any and all sincere efforts.
Are you ready to take that challenge!
Introduction
What if you lived in a lovely home? A home where you felt a great sense of comfort and peace. If all else failed in the world, you could come home, relax, and feel the safety of your nest.
You have ordered beautiful home accessories from Amazon and Wayfair — called in the best home decorators and construction advisors and have this amazing space of brilliance to live. A space worthy of daily Facebook postings.
However, what if every time you left your beautiful home to engage in the world, someone was sitting at your front door with a huge stick or other object and began hitting you each time you opened that door? What if, as a result of this abuse, you felt an exorbitant number of discomforts and fear of attempting an exit or escape?
A fear that dominated your life and no matter what time of day, clever disguises, or how cunning you thought you’d be to exit the home, this intruder was always savvier than you — as a result you are held hostage in your beautiful abode. You are a prisoner in a never-ending cycle of discouragement and defeat, resulting in anxiety, stress, fear, depression, and a plethora of other feelings of despair.
This is what happens to billions of people all over the globe! Paul is exceedingly clear in Corinthians 10:3 when he says, For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh
(NKJV). Sisters and brothers, we are not fighting a battle of flesh but spiritual warfare — a war that is fought between our ears and processed in the heart. It is a battle of the mind and body that, at times, can be exceedingly exhausting and difficult; but one that has the propensity, if managed with perseverance, faith, and diligence,
