He Was There

About this ebook
For many years I felt lost and alone. Thoughts flooded my mind and feelings overwhelmed me. Thoughts and feelings that tormented me. Thoughts and feelings I had to hide. For whom could I talk to? Whom could I tell? For who would not judge me for such moral failure as hatred raged and all peace escaped me. Desperate for relief, my only confidant and friend became a pen and paper. They would not judge me. They would not look at me differently. So as in silence I cried through written word, I eventually discovered that I was not lost, and I was never alone, because all that time . . . He was there.

He has always been there in the good times and the bad.
He has always been there, though I did not know He had.
Every heartache, every tear I’ve cried, none have slipped Him by,
Why I had to suffer so, I never may know why.
The road my life has brought me through
was filled with pain and sorrow.
So many times I prayed to die, didn’t want to see tomorrow.
But He has never left me, though I knew not who He was.
I did not know He loved me, but now I know He does.
I live now in His presence, glad to greet the day.
I am given new direction and I’m walking in His way.
And I know He’ll never leave me, and one day I’ll see His face;
Jesus, friend of all mankind, who saves us by His grace.
And this I know, yes this is true, He’s been here all the way.
My God has been here by my side, this is why I say,
Praise the Lord, for He is good, He’s been here by my side.
And He refreshes me now with the pool of every tear I’ve cried.
When the day seems like it’s never ending, and you feel like you are just pretending,
Because you’re all torn up inside, dealing with things you try to hide.
Not because you’re being unreal, but you are dealing with things you should not feel;
Or dealing with things you know are not right; and praying for visions and dreams in the night.
To give you an answer to help you along, remember that when you are weak He is strong.
You may not get your visions or dreams in the night,
But pray at the dawn for His strength for the fight.
For the battle was won on the cross that day, when Jesus died our debt to pay.
One day at a time is all we can do, and in the end He will bring us through.
The Lord, He is my deliverer, my help in times of trouble.
His love and mercy flow to me my portion He truly did double.
For He has never left me alone amidst in the battle to stand,
No, He has fought on my behalf with VICTORY in His hand.
I will not dread. I will not fear. For just as God has said …
The serpent he may bruise my heel—but I shall crush his head!
I know the Lord is my helper,
a friend in time of need.
A shelter to run and abide in,
my counsel to whom I do plead.
His favor He’s bestowed upon me,
His mercies flow new every day.
And when I’m not sure where I’m going,
He guides me and shows me the way.
His angels encamp round about me,
His Spirit it fills me within.
And though at times I may stumble,
He is able to keep me from sin.
He’s promised that He’d never leave me,
that’s a promise on which I can stand.
For I know that whatever befalls me,
I am cleft in the palm of His hand.
Sometimes life may seem unfair. We sit and question, why?
We’re filled with guilt and shame and grief not seeing it’s a lie.
