- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book has wonderful pictures and colors. The story is good too. It talks about a group of friends wanting to make a cake for their friend and the duck only wanted to give a turnip. What was unexpected is the cow ended up having much appreciation for the turnip and nobody else was expecting that.

Birthday for Cow! Who doesn’t love making a birthday cake? Mouse and Pig are hard at work making a cake for Cow, but Duck is stirring up some trouble! Find out what “special” ingredient Duck wants to add to the birthday cake.
Full of bright colorful illustrations with simple text, this book is perfect for toddlers of all ages. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A follow up to last year's What Will Fat Cat Sit On?, A Birthday for Cow is another humorous story for toddlers, featuring the same cast of characters - mouse, pig, duck and cow.
It's cow's birthday, and the animals are making him a birthday cake. While pig and mouse carefully follow the cake recipe, duck tries without success to add what he believes is a key ingredient - a turnip!
The text is short and simple, "Next, they mix it all together with... " "A TURNIP!" "No, Duck. A SPOON."
Toddlers should enjoy the bold and bright illustrations, even if they miss some of the dry humor, "Sometimes I brush my teeth using a turnip." "Really? Me, too!"
Each page has a brightly colored background of blue, pink, or green, and the animals are cartoon-style - wide-eyed and expressive. Cute!
