What’s In A Name?
24 years
It took 24 years for me to learn what’s in a name
To understand that despite similar lettering and sequence, no one is defined the same
Different infliction and conception, individuality is to blame
Didn’t define who I was, but inspired who I became
Named, by my mother and father, a lot to live up to
Shamed, by people who think they know me better than even they do, but I never
Blamed, individuals who refer to me in fewer syllables than their mothers mother tongue
but it’s still
Stained, into my mind as a name they can’t define
A name they can’t deny, known by strangers to me
A name that paints me by the
