Complete maps of the dungeons and the stats for all NPCs are located in the appendix to facilitate easy printing.
Adventure 1 – Escape from the Halls of Dezka
This is where the adventure begins. Dezka is a powerful, evil wizard with a bone to pick with the characters—or at least one of them.
Scenario
The characters wake up chained to the wall of a locked cell, wearing only their underclothes. The cell is lit by a single oil lamp hanging on the wall outside the cell. The air is dank and heavy, as though they are deep underground. Behind the bars, beyond their reach, they see some large cloth sacks. (These sacks contain their adventuring equipment, although they don’t know what is inside the bags.) They all feel weak and headachy, as though they have been drugged. The last thing they remember is drinking ale in the pub and then passing out. At the time, they were celebrating the birthday of one of the characters present in the cell (roll at random).
Along with them is a half-elf NPC who calls himself Fives.
He is a thief by profession, although he says he is only a locksmith. Fives also does not know why he is locked in the cell. Hidden in the cell is a piece of wire. If the characters look for it, they will find it. If there is no thief in the group, Fives can use this to unlock their manacles and the door to their cell. From there, the characters can retrieve their equipment.
The door leading out of the cell area is locked. If no thief is present, Fives will also unlock the door to the cell chamber for them. From this point forward, the characters will be free to wander the dungeon and (hopefully) escape from it. Fives will remain with the party and even fight with them as long as he is welcome, saying, We’d better stick together until we find our way out. We don’t know what horrors may be lurking in this dungeon.
A Murder Mystery
One of the characters’ brothers is responsible for this situation. However, the other characters/players are not supposed to know about it. Give each player a folded piece of paper and distribute them at random. One says, Not long ago, your brother Jalban robbed and murdered a young woman named Tristana. He confessed his crime to you. This is your secret.
The others say simply, You heard that a young woman named Tristana was robbed and murdered. Nobody knows who did it.
What the players choose to do with this information is up to them. Fives knows of the murder but does not know who did it. He will claim his innocence if he is accused.
Background
Dezka, a powerful wizard, had a young, beautiful assistant named Tristana. The brother of one of the characters, whose name was
