About this ebook

We’re all familiar with the classic financial advice — budget, build an emergency fund, establish a savings plan. You might be putting these principles into practice in your own life, but still finding yourself running into roadblocks. This can make the task of improving your financial health a substantial challenge. The truth of the matter is that there is no one-size-fits-all financial advice. She also shares exercises to help you put what you’ve learned into practice.
If one-size-fits-all financial advice isn’t working for you, a little bit of self-exploration could be just what you need. Let Chelsea Brennan guide you through the process.

    Introduction

Hi there! My name is Chelsea Brennan. Welcome to The Thriving Mindset: How to Take Control of Your Money Beliefs and Build the Life of Your Dreams, a course from Scribd Coach. I’m thrilled to have you here.

What makes this course different? First, it’ll give you an entirely different approach to financial education, quite unlike most of what you might have heard before. Often, financial courses start with loads of complex tools and systems: do this - and everything will work out.

These courses tell you to use budgeting techniques, build an emergency fund, find the best savings plan, but the question is - why do they do that? On a fundamental level, you already know the basics. You probably know how to save on groceries, how to set a budget, how to spend less, but somehow you keep running into roadblocks.

You might be thinking you’re doing a great job for a while, when suddenly some unexpected big purchase or an emergency situation comes your way, and you end up taking money out of your savings.

Sometimes people can feel frustrated when they’re struggling to find answers to so many questions about finance. How do I find a better rate for my savings account? What is a good index fund for my retirement account? How do I know if I’m saving enough?

All these questions might make you feel stuck. But the reality is, there are no general answers to any of those. Before trying to find the answers, you first need to know exactly what you want when it comes to your finances, what your values and goals are. Without this information, it’ll be very hard to move beyond those roadblocks you keep bumping into.

In this course, you’ll decide what you want it to be. You’ll decide what kind of mindset you want, understand your personal struggles, and realize how you want to move forward based on your goals. Instead of creating a blanket system, we work on finding a system that works best for you. You’ll finally be able to align your actions with your priorities, and this is exactly what’ll finally make you feel like you’re thriving with your money.

We live in a society where we’re constantly told what we should want and how we spend our money. These limitations also stop us from achieving things we want to
