Introduction by Thomas Clelland
The Stroke
Strange Land
The Little Man
Invisible Leaves
The Messenger
Blind Ambition
The Mirror
Writer’s block
Clouds
Without Love
The Fool
I am a silent face
I’m looking for Mr Right
Do you see my love
There’s a window
I should have spent more time
My dog ran away with my breakfast
People are like drops of rain
Consequence and circumstance
A place called youth
Illusion and Confusion
Does reality cause dreams
Did you lose something on the way?
What is it all about?
I had a dream of Charlie
Don’t fall in love with the Barmaid
Death walks among Us
An alien
Look at every sunset
Eyes that dance
There’s a tiger
Dust Is the Key
There are some that will
Let’s all return to smaller days
Wintertime is here
Where was I before I said I was
Welcome Home
I have dedicated my book to all stroke
survivors and their carers.
Acknowledgement
I would like to acknowledge Susan O Evans, a North London Hospice Compassionate Neighbour. She saw the vision of creating a book of my poems and without her support you would not be reading this book right now.
True Patience
Been in hospital many times and they say that we are the patients
But the real meaning of the patients
Are the gallant band who have the patience day and night within and without a fuss
Always smiling and having the patience to look after those who need it most
Sometimes without thanks sometimes with thanks
But the real meaning of patients are the patient people who look after us day and night
Without them we would be in a terrible plight
So thank you for all of you doctors nurses
And all the others who have the patience to see it through
So the real meaning of patients are the ones
Who always have the patience with us without a fuss
