      I woke to the sound of a drum beating.

      I know what you’re thinking, but it’s not that. It’s not the sound of blood and your heart in your eardrums, but the honest-to-goodness slow and steady hammering of a drum🪘. From what I can see in the grayness, it is still and quiet beyond the window, and then…

      A voice whispers…

      Marching along - we're adventurers. Singing the songs of adventurers. Up or down, north south east or west, an adventurer’s life is best.

      Rain begins to fall. The same voice whispers in Samoan:

      Magic has begun.

      Looking out the window of  my bedroom, out over the garden, the morning fog blanketed the ground surrounding the pond.

      You have to go.

      That voice again. What was that? I called out.

      Now.

      🗿

      I reached for some clothes and got on the road in short time. Traffic is light, as it would be, since it’s a Sunday morning. With fewer vehicles than one might find during the week, you might say the driving is easy as Sunday morning…

      It has happened several times during the drive, where I seem to have permitted blocks of time and real estate to slip by as if on a sort of autopilot. It’s either that or something is guiding me, and I’m locked in a cosmic tractor beam.

      Driving down Federal Highway (or US 1, take your pick),
