Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem.
In the Name of Allah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy.
A Muslim is encouraged to utter certain phrases at the mention of Allah, the Prophet, other Prophets, the angels, the companions of the Prophet, and righteous Muslims. Please say these phrases whenever you come across them in the book.
Allah: Say "Subhaanahuu wa ta’aalaa" which means ‘Glorified and Exalted is He.’
Prophet Muhammad: Say, "Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa salam" which means, ‘May the peace and blessing of Allah be on him.’ Say this phrase always when you hear the beloved name of the Prophet or at any place where the Prophet is mentioned.
Other Prophets or an Angel: Say, "Alayhis Salaam" which means, ‘Peace be on him.’
A male companion of the Prophet: Say, "Radiyallaahu ‘anhum" which means, ‘May Allah be pleased with him.’
A past scholar or righteous Muslim: Say, "Rahimahullaah" which means, ‘May Allah have Mercy on him.’
A female companion: Say "Radiyallaahu ‘anhaa" which means, ‘May Allah be pleased with her.’
Introduction
Ammaar was having his weekly class with his father.
"Allah praises the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa salam, by saying in the Quran, in Chapter 68, Verse 4, ‘And surely, you are of a noble rank when it comes to your manners’."
"So, this means that the Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa salam, is our role model for good manners."
"Yes. The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa salam, said, ‘The only reason Allah has sent me is that I can perfect the best of all manners’."
Why should we learn about good manners?
Today we find that many Muslims don’t know how to behave with elders and young. So, learning good manners is very important. Whenever a companion asked the Prophet to give him comprehensive advice, the Prophet almost always advised him about good manners. The Prophet advised a companion to interact and meet with people with the best of manners.
So, good manners is one of the great blessings of Allah?
The Prophet said that people cannot be given any blessing in the eyes of Allah better than good manners. This is better than money or wealth. Many individuals are rich but are not liked by others due to their bad manners. A person is loved by everyone even if poor because he is nice, gentle, and kind.
What do we get when we show good manners?
With good manners, we get a lot of good deeds in our account. Allah will elevate our rank in the hereafter because of our good manners.
So, we can make up the shortcomings in our worship of Allah with good manners?
Yes. You can become a very righteous worshipper with your good manners and character.
What if someone does not have good manners?
Having good manners is a sign of being a Muslim. Lack of good manners shows that a person is not a good Muslim. The Prophets said that the most perfect of believers in their faith is the one who has the best manners. Having good manners shows that a person is having faith in Allah.
What is another blessing of having good manners?
Good manners are loved by Allah and He hates those having bad manners.
Do good manners and character helps us go to paradise?
Yes. Good manners along with faith and repentance help us go to paradise.
Please tell me another blessing of good manners?
Those having good manners will be closest to the Prophet on the Day of Judgment and paradise.
Chapter 1: Intention and sincerity
Ammaar, today we will discuss ‘al-ikhlaas’ or sincerity.
The companions of the Prophet did their actions sincerely for the sake of Allah.
"Yes, they are our role models and we should learn from them. Allah says in the Quran, in Chapter 39, Verse 3, ‘Is it not to Allah that sincere devotion is due?…’ Our sincere obedience is for Allah alone."
"What
