Creative Dream Analysis - Gary Yamamoto

    Dedication

To Andrea Gold, without whose love, faith, and support, this book would not have been written, completed, and published.

To William Buehler who showed me the true potential found in dreams.

To Patricia Rochelle Diegel who said this is an important means to open people’s minds to possibilities.

To Jon Terrance Diegel who shared his powerful insights.

    Preface

It’s my last semester as an electrical engineering student. I’m studying for my last 3 final exams the next day. It’s already 4 am on the next day and the first exam begins in 4 hours. I’ve spent the night looking at my notes and solving countless problems. At this point, my mind is tired and my eyes want to close. Exhausted, I glance at a couple of pages with formulas and crashed.

Almost immediately, the dreams seemed to begin. I’m back in Keller Hall at the University of Hawaii with other engineering students. I notice how bright the room is as I begin reading a book and working on a problem. I look at my notes and begin working on another problem. At one point, I’m talking to a fellow student and he’s showing how to solve this one problem. And it goes on and on. I’m thinking this is amazing. I have all this time to work on so many possible problems. After a long while, I notice that students are leaving the room. Soon, I’m the only one left in the room and the lights seem to be dimming. Suddenly, my eyes open and it’s almost 7 am. A quick shower, grab a sandwich my mom left me, and I’m off to take my exams. I passed all my exams.

The magic of that moment was soon put into the depths of my memory and forgotten. It never dawned on me why I found work so easy. There was a connection between my work and what I did at night. Nothing fun, nothing illegal, just dreams. It would be a few years before I got into metaphysics. I began taking classes at the Metaphysical Institute being run by Jon and Patricia Diegel. They had a bookstore and I began reading as many books as I found interesting.

One day, there was a class being offered on dream analysis. It was being conducted by a US Navy Commander. I’m thinking here’s a no-nonsense military guy and if he’s teaching it, it could be good. That class made me realize that I was already using my dreams at work, as a communications and nuclear weapons engineer. I read Sigmund Freud’s book which wasn’t very helpful. Wanting more, I took a class from Hugh Lynn Cayce, the son of famed prophet Edgar Cayce. Even his knowledge was not good enough. I was young enough and arrogant enough to develop my own method. I tapped into the abilities of three psychics and came up with my own Universal Dictionary.

Since the initial publishing of this book, I found 2 additional dictionaries were needed. These were personal ones the individual developed as their personal symbols came up in their dreams.

The method I’ve used for years is simple. You record your dreams in a notebook. You’ll then replace the symbols with the definition found in the dictionaries. Then, reading the new dream message, you’ll have the message from your dreams. Of course, this method may not give you the answer you need. You can always ask for another dream to clarify the previous dream.

After writing this book, I wanted to have it published. Not able to find a publisher, I quit my US Government job, withdrew 22 years of retirement money, and started a publishing company. This was back in 1985 and publishing was difficult. To make things worse, I knew nothing about publishing. But with enough expert employees, I got my books along with many others published.

This book is a revision of the original book and makes it easier to analyze your dreams. My second dream book, The Power of Dreams, shows you how to get creative ideas and innovative solutions so many others have done in the past.

    I

    ntroduction

I’m sitting in the now Ala Moana Honolulu by Mantra Hotel near the Waikiki Yacht Club. My friend tells her fellow flight crew members that I interpret dreams. One of the flight attendants shares her dream and I hesitated to tell her what it meant in front of the others. She said that she had nothing to hide, so I told her that she would be divorced in a few months. She laughed and said it was not possible. Seven months later, I’m told the person just finalized her divorce. Of course, I had over 10 years of experience teaching and interpreting dreams. Dreams not only solve problems; they can also foretell your future.

This book is organized to first give you an understanding the process of dreaming and how you can use your dreams to help you. At this point, I’ve been giving classes, presentations, and personal consultations for over 40 years. You’ll learn the five different types of dreams you’ll have with examples to help you identify which type you’re having. This will allow you to better interpret the dream and how it applies to your life or the life of the person who had the dream.

The most important key is to keep a notebook where you record your dreams. It’ll make it easier to interpret your dreams and analyze them. It’ll also provide you with a record, a progression of how you’ve grown and changed with the help of your dreams.

The Universal Symbols Dictionary is unique because it’s the key to getting the message of your dreams. I enlisted the aid of three 3 psychic friends, all of whom had Ph.D. degrees in different fields. In this current book, I added 2 more personal dictionaries that will help you interpret your dreams. You’ll create these as you interpret symbols that have a unique meaning only to you. I’ve found this helpful to more accurately interpret your dreams.

I have some examples which will show you how easy it is to interpret your dreams. I’ve also included a general analysis of the most common dreams that people have. This includes the chase, flying, falling, classroom, teeth falling out, and the popular sex dreams.

The realm of dreams will help you understand your life and how your dreams help you. It’s also an entrance into the world of metaphysics and becoming more psychic. You’ll learn to use stress clearance techniques and meditation to help you sleep better more soundly and recall more dreams.

I’ve been interpreting and teaching dream analysis since the early 1970s. Yes, I’m still alive and well. The first printing of this book was in 1988 and you can imagine how many dreams I’ve interpreted since then. This book will also allow you to interpret the dreams of loved ones. Imagine being able to help children to understand what their dreams and nightmares are saying to them. You’ll also see why night terror isn’t a dream.

I’ve used my dreams to help design communications facilities throughout the Pacific Rim countries, from Adak, Alaska to Antarctica. I’ve also used my dreams while working on the Polaris, Poseidon, and Trident warheads for nuclear submarines. As a professional speaker, my dreams helped me to organize and illustrate my presentations. I even used my dreams to write 2 children’s books and 3 audio programs. With almost no music training, my dreams even created the music and lyrics for the audio programs.

If you’re interested in creativity and innovation, my second dream book is for you. It’s titled, The Power of Dreams: To Achieve More. In it, you’ll have examples of people who’ve used their dreams to become famous and/or very wealthy.

    Chapter 1

    Unleashing Dream Power

It may be that those who do most, dream most.

    — Stephen Butler Leacock

During a session in a dream analysis class, I asked if anyone had a dream to share as an example. While people are often reluctant to share their dreams in a classroom setting, I’m always hoping to get one that’s full of symbols.  A woman raised her hand and volunteered a great dream.

I don’t understand this, but I had a dream where I was walking down a dusty country road, one with a lot of holes and rocks. I met a man who was beating on a cat with his hands. The cat was a calico, and looked terrible, just horribly beaten. As I watched what was happening, I felt no sorrow. There was an empty, hollow feeling in my stomach. I turned away from this gross scene and continued down the road until I came upon a paved road. It was a regular road, except that there were a lot of rods sticking up from the black stuff [asphalt]. I thought that this would be dangerous for anyone passing this way. I saw a road crew sitting on the side of the road. I went over to them and asked when they were going to repave this road. They said that they had no idea. I explained to them how dangerous this was and they agreed, but they still didn’t do anything. I finally got upset and yelled, What the hell are you waiting for? One of them smiled and replied, The boss says that if we repair the road too soon, there will be no more excitement. I then woke up.

How’d you feel about the dream? I asked.

Well, I think I felt frustrated.

    Do you remember any colors?

The calico cat, and when I was looking at the cat, it was like looking through a veil, and the veil was yellow. Oh! There was also a red stop sign on the country road where it met the paved road.

I thought about the dream for a few moments and gave her the following interpretation:

The cat symbolizes your relationship with a man, either your husband or even a significant other. The horrible condition of the cat tells me there has been a lot of mental and maybe even physical abuse between you. It’s very difficult for both of you, and there is no real relationship. You’ve probably thought of ending this relationship and walking out on him many times before. The black road means you don’t have a clear idea of how to do it yet. The rods sticking up on the road symbolize unknown dangers on your path. You’re afraid that things might become very difficult for you if you were on your own. The fear that you have is really created in your mind. This isn’t to say that the problems themselves are not real, but you’ve created an unreasonable fear of the situation.

The road crew symbolizes help for you, whenever you really need it. When the boss said they kept the rods because they needed excitement, it indicates you want to continue this relationship. Most of us are creatures of habit and rarely venture into new things.
