      The Importance of Understanding Words in the Bible

      The Bible was written by God’s people at different times in history. It was originally composed in three languages: Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. The Old Testament was written almost entirely in Hebrew, with small portions written initially in Aramaic. The New Testament was originally written entirely in Greek. Because of the depth and breadth of these languages and the underlying meaning of their words, we rely on translations of the Bible.

      The Foundation of This Women’s Study Guide

      Genesis 1:1-5

      1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

      3 And God said, Let there be light, and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light day, and the darkness he called night. And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

      For you to become a doer of God’s word as you understand the importance of how God’s words matter to creation and society.

      As your faith grows in Christ and as we continue to build up the glorious body of Christ here on earth, you will allow the Word of God to transform your life and lifestyle.
