    THE CHURCH MOTHER

    38198.png

THERE ARE SIMILARITIES between mothers and the church (which is the body of Christ), as well as the intercessor. These fundamental similarities have their roots in the divine. Because they are divinely orchestrated, only the divine can reveal the ultimate connection and the interacting functioning of these entities. Jesus said, How be it when He, the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He hears that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come (John 16:13)¹.

By intercession, truth is revealed, the enemy’s plot is destroyed, and the people of God are brought to safety and victory. King Hezekiah hesitated to present the letter of threat he received from King Sennacherib of Assyria before the Lord on the altar in the temple of the God of heaven.

And Hezekiah prayed before the lord, and said, O Lord God of Israel, which dwells between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; Thou hast made the heaven and earth.

Lord, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennachherb, which hath sent him, to reproach the living God. Of a truth, Lord, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of man’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they have destroyed them. Now therefore, O Lord our God, I beseech thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the Lord God, even thou only. (2 Kings 19:15–19)

The king was conceived with a desire to see God and His people vindicated. Therefore, he travailed in a prayer and intercession, and God responded to his cry and delivered them. The prophet Elijah, by intercession, returned the heart of the backsliding nation of Israel to God after he gathered them together with King Ahab and his false prophets upon Mount Carmel (1 Kings 18).

When a believer intercedes in true sincerity, God will always respond with a positive answer.

The intercessor is the reproductive organ of the church. The church is the mother. But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all (Galatians 4:26). The church travails in prayer to give birth to lost sinners. Likewise, the intercessors travail in order that the body of Christ remains safe, healthy, and strong.

I was in a season of intercession when the Spirit of the Lord made it known to me that the intercessor is the womb of the church. It has been said that a woman is a man with a womb. The purpose of the womb is to bring forth new life into the world.

The prophet Isaiah wrote, Who hath heard such a thing? Who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children (Isaiah 66:8).

The church brings forth from time to time because she travails in birth pains through intercession. Motherhood is one of the most challenging experiences from its very inception in the garden of Eden. Not only does the mother give birth to the children, but she nurtures and protects, and she sustains her young. She has an unbreakable tie to every child that she bears.

The word mother takes us back to the dawn of creation. This tells us that the word mother represents the life-producing, life-sustaining, and life-preserving entity. Without the mother, the reproductive source of life would be nonexistent. Mother, therefore, is a priceless species, which is above all others in the human realm. She carries within herself some of God’s most undiscovered goodnesses.

These qualities are highly necessary for the further development of humankind. History shows that men in leadership have failed time and time again to give recognition to some of the important roles that mothers have played in the church. Not only were they denied but they were also blatantly ignored or falsely accused.

Our enemy, Satan, has successfully and devastatingly blinded some of our prominent men down throughout history. They have failed to recognize God’s intended plan of partnership with His women in the church. There is a mystery between God and His women, which He has eventually gotten through to some of His male servants in the body of Christ.

This mystery becomes open only to the men who have spent much yielding of their time to God in prayer, fasting, and careful study of His word. Any man who can elevate the spirit of his wife into the presence of God and keep her there has found himself a complete woman. All that she has, all that she is, and all that she will ever be will be totally surrendered to him.

Even as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him Lord (1 Peter 3:6a). Men are little gods, and we are great at creating monsters out of our women. The nature of the woman is to engage in the things that give her a sense of elevation. She is closest to being her total self when and only when she is in the presence of God.

The power of her creativity comes alive when she is being recognized and honored for who she is. When there is total understanding and acceptance of both species, the reproductive spirit and power of God will meet and connect with the earthly creatures. In this meeting, yielded earthly, fleshy creatures become like God in the earth (His nature and character). We act like God, we speak like God, and we will conquer the enemy’s territories like God said we should.

This is the power that drives the intercessors into the very presence of God. The vision of the individual becomes clearer in times of intercession. Our ability to
