This is a quick and understandable introduction to solar power and other forms of alternative energy. The book includes the history of solar power, describes various types of solar power, provides a brief description of how to calculate your energy savings with solar, and discusses how to find and select a contractor.

My complaint is that the title gives you the impression that the book will focus on the issue of solar power and the home. Between chapters on history, extensive discussion of industrial and commercial applications not applicable to residential situations, and additional forms of alternative energy such as wind and geothermal, there's precious little space left that actually addresses things a homeowner wants to know when evaluating whether solar is right for him.
