Jason Grundstrom-Whitney, is an adopted Bear Clan member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe, and a musician who plays various wind instruments for classical, jazz, rock, funk, country, blues, and rap. The band Osha Root recently produced a CD featuring Jason's music and poetry. His poetry has appeared in 3 Nations Anthology and in the Underground Writers Association's Anthology of Maine Poets. Bear, Coyote, Raven is his first full-length collection of his own poems. A graduate of the University of Southern Maine, Jason has spent a lifetime working on Native American Rights, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence survival, Hospice and end of life, the homeless, environment, and alternative medicine. He has worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor and a Specialist at the Riverview Psychiatric Hospital in Augusta, Maine.Jason studied with a variety of native teachers and also learned from many others while he hitch-hiked for two and a half across America and has written about these experiences. He is a father, grandfather, and husband, and has been in recovery for 37 years.

    Looking up at the stars,

    Coyote slyly asked Bear,

    "How long do you reckon it would take

    to get to one of them?"

    Through the top of his head

    Bear shot out,

    leaving his furry clay body behind.
