About this ebook

This book represents the first published assembly of Rose Wilcox Sliemers’ poetry. It is composed of some 141 pieces. These were written, along with another thousand or more, during the period beginning in the 1950’s and continuing until a short time before her death in November, 2018. Additionally during this period, she was married, bore 8 children, all of whom are living, became a registered nurse and worked at The Ohio State University Hospital for more than 20 years, serving most of this time as head nurse. How she found the time to do all these things, only God and Rose know.

Rose Wilcox Sliemers

My wife, Rose, who passed away recently, had written poetry most of her adult life. During that period she maintained a “library” of her poetic writings, which I estimate to be in the one-thousand-plus range. As a result of reading many of these pieces, I have come to the conclusion that it would be appropriate to prepare and publish a small segment (perhaps one hundred or so) in her honor. This book is representative of these writings. To poeticide, Rose Wilcox Sliemers was a woman of many a word. Fortunately, however, they were the printed kind and not to be overheard. She was truly a poet as the writings herein do attest. But she was never a talker, as a writer she was best.

    Jack

    You are my rock;

    you keep me strong

    and give me hope

    when days are long.

    My heart is full;

    thank God above.

    He has given us

    unending love.

    You give me strength

    when I am weak;

    you make me smile

    when things look bleak.

    At times, we grow weary

    while running this race,

    but God has given us amazing grace.

    We’ve worked hard to answer God’s call,

    and with our love, we have it all!

    Love always, Rose

    Our Children

    Our children are our gifts

    of life’s eternal love.

    We thank you, Lord, for giving us

    these treasures from above.

    Such joy they bring

    to us each day

    in all they do and all they say,

    with God to help along the way.

    Those growing years have long since passed;

    we’re so proud of all they’ve done.

    We’ve tried to raise our children

    as Mary and Joseph did their Son.

    Love always,

    Mom and Dad

    Our Grandchildren

    Our lives have been blessed

    with the most precious things:

    our children and grandchildren,

    all angels without wings.

    They bring us love and laughter

    and
