    The Author

    Preface

This manual is the seventh of a series of 20 manuals that the author was commissioned to write for the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) training program in Diamond Bar, California that was granted approval as a training facility in 2009 by the State Department of Health and Human Services. In writing these manuals, the author strived to adhere to the strict guidelines of the State of California’s requirements for the MLT program.

The author revised these manuals to serve 3 purpose: as the primary textbooks for the 6-month MLT training program, as reviewers for Clinical Laboratory Scientists (CLSs) preparing for the CLS Licensure or Certification, and as a continuing education materials for CLSs and MLTs as a requirement for license renewal.

The author wrote these manuals in an outline form for easy reading and understanding and free from the constraint of a formal textbook. The author’s intention is to speak to the reader from the actual clinical laboratory bench than from the classroom.

The Urinalysis and Body Fluids for CLS and MLT only discussed the most common urinary diseases and body fluids encountered in the clinical laboratory and are not intended as a replacement to the actual textbooks currently being employed in the CLS program.
