INTRODUCTION
This is a book of uplifting joy – although it may not sound joyful at first. This book describes my journey from darkness to the bright light of happiness, which I’m sharing with you to help on your journey out of darkness.
Credentials:
I don’t have an M.D. or a Ph.D. I do have a master’s degree in library science and I’m a researcher, analyst, and project manager – none of which provide credentials for writing this book.
The credentials
I do have are 63 years of pain, fear, depression, and anxiety – and an incredible seven years of growth, expansion, happiness, and joy – which I’m sharing with you to help ease your journey out of feeling lost, hopeless, and fearful.
This book is for people who are afraid or suffering constant physical and/or emotional pain; for people who don’t see any purpose to life; for people who’ve been abused and wonder why they’ve been punished; and for people who are looking to feel better in this life.
It’s taken me literally decades to write this book. I’m thankful for the final push from my spirit guides to overcome my apprehension and write of my experiences, so they may be of help to others in similar situations.
Due to the extremely personal nature of this book, and the potential impacts this book may have on my relatives, particularly my sisters, I have used aliases for all names – including my own. The changing of a name in no way affects the truth of my journey or this book.
The first chapter, Broken Pieces,
consists of a series of notes I recorded throughout the middle years of my life. Following each note, I explain the circumstances of my life that lead to writing the note, and I provide some help and hope for those who can readily identify with, or remember, similar types of experiences in their lives and are looking for a way out of the darkness and fear.
The best help and hope I can provide are found in the remaining two chapters, which have been written recently for the book. They show my progression as I found my self,
started picking up the broken pieces of my life, reviewed events and people throughout my journey, forgave myself and others, gradually healed and pieced myself together, and opened up to a glorious new viewpoint and an enlightened outlook. It’s my sincere hope and intent that this book will provide enough ideas and suggestions for you to achieve your own unique progression on your journey from darkness to the light.
My First Message for You
Don’t give up hope. Slowly gather the pieces of your shattered life, and find good counselors and other mental health professionals to listen to you, provide alternatives to your current worldview, and assist you as you begin to heal those broken pieces. Keep looking forward to tomorrow, with the potential each new day brings for the wholeness and happiness awaiting you.
This book is for you.
Megan
CHAPTER 1
Broken Pieces
When you rebuild a shattered life, sometimes you don’t get all the pieces.
PERSONALITY
February 5, 2004
Today I’m Daniel. Daniel is Dr. Daniel Jackson, one of the characters in Stargate SG-1, a science fiction TV series which debuted in 1997. You can tell that Daniel’s a science fiction character because he’s a sensitive man who would never hurt a child.
I don’t have multiple personalities; in fact, I probably have no personality at all. I’m emulating Daniel – I’m letting Daniel be my guide, my personality, today. I’m reacting like Daniel.
Daniel isn’t my first guide, or my only guide, or my last guide – he’s just today’s guide, subject to change without notice. My first guide was Thunderbolt, a black-and-white pinto horse. Thunderbolt helped me gallop when I needed to escape. He also taught me that I don’t need much in terms of worldly possessions: just an apple and a small cave out of the weather. The cave was actually a corner of the hole being dug for the expansion of the house where I grew up. Thunderbolt helped me survive my childhood –
