Being a first-time writer, I have chosen a subject matter on which no one is an expert. My main character in my book is the same main character in the Bible. Through the many decades of living on this planet and experiencing the positive and negative situations produced, my research provided the many theories in my book based on historical and recent events. They’re opinions, yes, backed up with hard facts and blended with mankind’s actions, which implore one to seek more. I live in California, and I’m now basking in the sun and preparing my next project.

A Tangible Theory on God - Len Drayton
THEORY
If particular individuals have potential, God will open their eyes to the ways of the world and their days of idiocy will be over. Then those persons become nobody’s fools. Sure, mistakes are still committed in people’s lives, but not because of a lack of understanding. The errors made once your eyes are opened come from choosing to carry out decisions in one’s own behalf and not doing what is best for all. If a person is willing, God will instruct that person where to go, how to get there, who to associate with and who to avoid. Ignore his guidance and Frank Sinatra’s song My Way
will become your anthem in life. Should one decide to make this choice, better be prepared to embrace the consequences and you definitely will not feel like singing.
There once was a student in a distinguished professor’s class at a top-end university. The professor is somewhat of a celebrity among Ivy League institutions. Many of his students refer to him as the modern-day Aristotle and his teaching technique is so stellar that the students who earn their degree and move on are incline to become CEOs and advisors to world leaders and to achieve other notable positions in life. Retirement is upon the professor now, but he leaves a great impression that will benefit the lives of his many students for a long time. This enlightened professor made a comment about those rare students who quest for the highest level of education a human being can obtain. They must begin their apprenticeship with the one who indirectly teaches those of the professor’s standards and his technique on how to enrich his students’ critical thinking. That teacher (never recognized) is God, and in order for the human mind to comprehend, God must come down to our intellectual level so we can understand the logic. This is akin to a 45-year-old adult talking to a 5-year-old child on a 5-year-old level. The more acute the student’s minds are; the more knowledge it can receive. This type of elevation reaches deep into the subconscious mind and heart and cannot be forgotten, no matter what the age is. This tutorship provides lifelong answers for the problems people face throughout their lives. The key is for the individual to recognize the situation and apply this knowledge to the many problems in life. (If intelligent, the problems will be fewer in life.) It can mean the difference between success and Hey… I could’ve had a V8!
If students allow God to have tenure in their lives and they pay close attention when he teaches, they will not fall victim to any false stories. No matter who is presenting the evidence or how convincing it is, the individual may sometimes find humor at some of the information being fed to society. But a lie is still a lie no matter how flamboyantly it is presented.
REMINDER: God will never receive official accolades for his involvement in mankind’s progress… it is the human way.
Modern society envisions God as this made-up entity people bow down and pray to and worship, as during the proceedings in a church. This reverence can be perceived as backwards and primitive, and often turns modern society away. For the so-called intellectual clan, this is a perfect excuse to claim, There is no God. Worshipping this made-up entity is something for the poor, uneducated and downtrodden.
If this is how some honor him, so be it. God converses with mankind on many levels; he knows how to reach the people he has chosen and his intervention could be a shout or a whisper. Finding the authentic God is easy, but it is also like applying for a high-profile job: either you qualify or you don’t. Do not let peers, whose opinions may have no value, prevent your enlightenment. Some cultures give God an image, so the acceptance process is better for the people, and sometimes an image is needed for the basic mind of the human being. An elementary level of logic is presented and communication is wanted, which means this does not make it wrong. Many nations have statues that are their versions of God. The image is not the issue: it is the behavior of the people that should be questioned.
There can be a conversation between God and the individual or God and a community or God and a nation. God had many discussions with Adam and Eve, Abraham, Noah, King David, King Solomon, Mary, Moses, Jesus and many others who were not headliners. God existed and was running the show before any of those people existed, he is still here and he will be here long after every person on Earth today has died and moved on. This is very important to remember for the select few: those individuals mentioned in religious literature became famous celebrities or icons or saints, or whatever you wish to call them, because of God’s involvement in their lives. God is the common denominator. What makes these people stand out from all others is God’s direct/indirect guidance, not individuals, but God’s influence surrounding their lives. We (the human race) have distanced ourselves from God for so long that the extended time has reached, for many, the point of no return. Now it appears to most of the public that God is nothing more than a myth and should be treated as if he were some sort of a fantasy movie like ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘Harry Potter.’ There will come a time in a person’s life that no matter where they live in this world, they must decide where they stand in life.
Accessibility to God is granted to everyone, anytime, anywhere. All a person has to do is make the effort. Reading the Bible is indeed a worthy devotion, but mankind has manipulated God’s word for his own selfish goals. The wording of some modern Bibles is very confusing. God is willing to guide any person living today, but making contact with him cannot be taken lightly or done halfheartedly. Now, what is about to be explained might be too advanced for the novice, so continue to visit the church. However, those who are used to accomplishing difficult tasks will understand. One must be very serious about and focused on the task at hand: the individual should be alone and not be disturbed. The identical process occurs when one is studying to pass the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or the Multistate Bar Exam (MBE). There must be privacy and no interruptions of any kind in order to concentrate. Once this is established, talk to him (pray) as you would talk to someone you care about.
Now, to the hordes living in the techno age, all this will sound absurd. This is why only a few will discover him. Speak from the heart and do not ask for selfish goals or desires: he might go deaf to the conversation. Remember, a person doesn’t want someone approaching them in a phony manner, so don’t approach God until you are seriously ready. Also, he might not answer right away, which could be a test to see how determined the individual is to make contact. He might answer right away and bluntly, or it could take days or many weeks. Who knows? Don’t give up (unless that’s what you do): God might be testing to see if you really want this. Enlightenment comes at a price, too, and is not merely a ‘serene walk through the park’ going through life. When completion has been achieved, ladies and gentlemen, this will place you on another level, and for some of you this is an introduction to a new form of communication. Actually it’s not new: it is older than modern civilization; but for the few in mankind, it will seem like new technology. If you are sincere, he will respond — and beyond any doubt you will know he did answer. If the individual gives up, then making contact (on your behalf) was not meant to be at this time and possibly the person was not sincere enough. If you are going through the motions so you can look respectable to your peers, don’t waste your time: you are only making a fool of yourself.
Some people go to church every week as a routine and to look respectable among their neighbors and peers. They are not there to achieve a closer bond with God: these pretenders never believed in him and never had any respect for him. The presence of these flakes/fakers in church is only for the image, because an image can be very powerful and for some it is everything. And these flakes/fakers wonder why a solution can’t be found for their problems: their pleas are never answered. In the end, they leave the church the same way they came in, and in some cases they leave the atmosphere of the church carrying more negativity in their hearts. Imagine dealing with these people on the job?
Then there are those who haven’t been in a church for years, yet God is very active in their lives. And there are the few who attend mass regularly and their lives is evidence of their strong belief with great respect for God. It is fascinating to meet people of genuine belief who have no hidden agenda. Then there are the many who have disconnected from God completely and might be called a dime-a-dozen.
They don’t want any part of him and the behavior pattern in their lives makes this choice obvious. But a person never knows about these circumstances. That’s why only one being is qualified to make a judgement call on someone’s life. Be advised, if a person does make a terrible mistake in life, don’t let pride and arrogance be the obstacle. That person should place themselves on their knees and bow to God and beg for mercy. Sometimes people will throw themselves on the mercy of the court for leniency: the same goes with God because he is the ultimate law.
END OF THEORY
Late one night I was being a couch potato, and as I contoured my body to the waves of the couch, I watched hours upon hours of television and could slowly feel the TV becoming my kryptonite. Then I came across this old 1939 black and white movie named Ninotchka
on a cable station. In this one particular scene, the two main characters are in a conversation and the male star (Melvyn Douglas) is trying to win over a young Greta Garbo. She turns sharply to him and coldly asks, in a Russian accent, What have you done for mankind?
Whoa! Imagine going about your business and someone fires a question like that at you. What would be your response? A question of such caliber would only disturb individuals who are capable of making a contribution but are too lazy or don’t care to. Unfortunately, the writer of this short story is guilty and is one of those individuals. After watching the scene, a drive slowly began to stir inside me to do something. The hypnotic television was turned off and although thoughts were developing, I was not prepared to do then what I have done now. Years have passed since that ignition, and what is in this short story is information that must be shared with others. It is literature being forgotten and ignored, and it is the most important element in the process of mankind. And as this information is no longer integrated into society, future generations are left to succumb to any popular fad, no matter how degrading or ridiculous.
As a primitive species — and the human race is primitive: don’t be fooled by the advanced technological achievements — we cannot move on to the next level without God’s guidance; it is impossible, and we will fail as we are failing now. There are countless people in the world who reject the real God, even after being blessed by encountering one of his direct approaches. So naturally, my trying to explain these theories about God will be rejected or dismissed without hesitation. Not everyone can be enlightened, nor do they want to be. God is not for everyone; he is available to all of us, but he is not for everyone. This is another reason why Heaven is such a fantastic place: not everyone is in it. Compared to the population of the world, this realm with the many halls accepts only a select few. Heaven makes those exclusive gentleman’s clubs around world rate no better than a one-star hotel. I’m quite sure Heaven is not the correct name, as probably its true name was lost in translation amidst the Dead Sea Scrolls or the Torah or the Koran or the King James Bible. Those Jesuit monks had their own interpretations.
THEORY
As an example, in any honored career there are great athletes who stand out from all others, based on talent and ability but not always on character. Heaven is similar to the best players of MLB, NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, tennis, NASCAR and many other competitive sports. Certain athletes are selected from their particular field to enter the Hall of Fame. This exhibits a record of their hard work and what they have accomplished. I find it amusing when I see individuals achieve rare success in sports. And sometimes these individuals are met with resentment. Now, if we are such an intelligent species (which we are always proclaiming), we would know that God told us he created us all equal. Meaning that we all can accomplish feats and goals that might not be found within a certain group. ‘Determination,’ is what pushes the individual to conquer the obstacles, and isolation is the reason certain groups do not compete and mankind is the cause of that isolation. The wide world of sports gives us a telescope into that reasoning. Come to find out that reasoning doesn’t make any sense.
Now God does the same for the human race, but what we refer to as the Hall of Fame is where he resides — and it is called Heaven. He chooses certain people from the population of the world to live in this wonderful place. These people are able to remain above the pettiness and absurdity (something very difficult to accomplish) and maintain a certain level of logical stability throughout their lives. If God did not separate us, then everyone would end up in the same place, and that new home would not be a paradise. Heaven would be just another run-of-the-mill place to live in; now that would be sad. But there is a Heaven and the students of God are allowed in; sometimes the students don’t know they are chosen and they bring with them what only God saw in them. They could be extraordinary individuals of fame or just plain everyday people grinding out a living. Only God knows the reason. Who else is more qualified than the creator himself to decide who enters and who doesn’t? This way no mistakes are made. In this new dimension there are positive people from all walks of life and from all corners of the planet, which makes life far more bountiful. On Earth, certain people cannot be seen with people of different races, religion, nationality, etc. The philosophy of mankind leaves something
