The author was born on a farm near Balcarres in 1930; attended Violette School grades 1 to 9; in 1949–50 attended normal school in Moose Jaw and obtained a teaching certificate; obtained the bachelor of education degree in 1988 from the University of Saskatchewan; married Jeanne Lavigne in 1959; raised five children; taught various grades for thirty-five years. His special interests include music and art, and he taught himself how to play the piano, organ, accordion, trumpet, tuba, saxophone, and guitar. His hobbies include badminton, tennis, pickle ball, bridge, composing music, writing, and photography. The highlights of his life include meeting and marrying Jeanne and raising their five wonderful children and seventeen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
