I Love Annuities...And You Should Too!: See How the Modern “Annua” Can Fit into Your Retirement Portfolio and Other Retirement Ideas

About this ebook
The key word that I stress to all in our mentor program is lifetime because it gives peace of mind to seniors who fear outliving their money. I love the television commercial with the college professor who is conducting a study for the Prudential Life Insurance Company, asking people who the oldest person is that they know. I also enjoy the ad that has people pulling a blue ribbon until their money runs out (usually before they expect). And the woman looks up and says I better rethink this thing. Those commercials portray exactly what our clients fear mostrunning out of money.

DEDICATION
To my wife, Sharon. As my business partner, you have seen our company grow in leaps and bounds over all these years. You have run our business like clockwork as I have followed and pursued my dreams. I could not have had nearly the success in this business if it weren’t for you. I love you.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
First and foremost, I would like to thank our loyal clients, without whom we are nothing; my mom who always supported me to find my next dream; and my two beautiful sisters, Kathleen and Lynn, who have always supported me but also showed me courage through the loss of both my brothers-in-law in the last year. The pain you both have endured has given me tremendous strength. I would also like to thank my two dear friends, Jim Hoeflinger and Mike Topp. Jim, your faith in God when you lost your wife, Marie, to cancer truly showed me that faith conquers all. And, Mike, I can’t show appreciation enough for your having the gumption to bring me into this business almost thirty years ago. You saw something in me that I didn’t see in myself. Thanks also to Xlibris Publishing Company who have encouraged me to write this book and have supported me every step of the way. And a special thank-you to Jonathan Widran, my editor, who helped guide me through the process of writing this book.
INTRODUCTION
As a veteran of the financial services industry, I realize the importance of the position I have been placed in to help others. As our industry has evolved, we have taken on a greater responsibility to make sure we do right by others through adherence to ethics and acquiring as much education as we possibly can. After being in the business for over twenty-five years, I’ve come to really appreciate what we do and how we do it to the point where I am now mentoring others in our business. The key word that I stress to all in our mentor program is lifetime
because it gives peace of mind to seniors who fear outliving their money.
Those commercials portray exactly what our clients fear most—running out of money.
Lifetime income annuities may not be a good fit for all, but for those who have them, they are wonderful supplements to their Social Security and pension payments. For these reasons, I have to be fully educated about the workings of the modern annuity. We have an obligation to make sure guaranteed lifetime annuities are part of our financial planning process because of the wonderful peace of mind these products provide. I like to call them sleep assurance
because they ensure that you can sleep well at night, and so can I.
The financial services business has been rewarding to me and my family because we have the opportunity to change the lives of people who rely on us to stay current, educated, and licensed with trust, integrity, and service as the foundation that sets us apart from other businesses.
The next time I write a lifetime annuity product, I will be proud of what I have done for my client. As the baby boomer generation retires (over ten thousand people per day), people in this demographic need us now more than ever. We have the platform, and now is the time to use it. Coach Mike Ditka of the Chicago Bears once said, The past is history, the future is a mystery, and today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.
Let’s take the gift of a lifetime income annuity and give it to my clients today so their future will no longer be a mystery. Guaranteed!
My goal for this book is to educate you on the workings of the modern annuity and other retirement ideas by keeping it simple and basic so you can fully understand and decide if these plans are a good fit for your retirement portfolio and strategies.

CHAPTER ONE
HOW I BECAME KNOWN AS THE
SAFE MONEY GUY
Instead of writing out my whole life story, I have decided to use excerpts from an interview and article called Safe Money Guy
which was written in 2014 and was seen on many prominent business dot-com outlets, including Bloomberg Businessweek, MarketWatch, and Yahoo Finance!
The article opens with two headlines that capture the essence of what I and my firm Fox Financial Group, Ltd. are all about. The first says Safe Money Guy
Jim Fox Has Focused Almost Exclusively on Lifetime Income Annuities for over Ten Years. The subhead reads,
The Twenty-Five-Year Financial Services Veteran’s Chicagoland-Based Fox Financial Group Serves Hundreds of Clients with ‘Integrity, Trust, and Service’ as Their Number 1 Goal."
The text of the piece is as follows:
Jim Fox’s
