DEDICATION

I dedicate this book of poetry to my beloved husband

Leo St. Don. He was a painting and paperhanging contractor for many years and a hard worker. He has passed on now but he always encouraged me to realize my ambitions.

We had 66 years of wedded bliss together, 10 children,

and a wonderful life together. He was dearly loved and is greatly missed by all of us.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I wish to thank all my children for giving me those special moments in their lives that I was able to record in poetry form. If it was not for the antics of my children as they grew, some of my poems would have never been written.

They inspired me to give a humorous ending to many of my poems. I invite my readers to chuckle now and then as you read my poetry. Enjoy!

INTRODUCTION

Growing up during the Depression years, financially, going to college was never an option for me. I graduated from High School and I have always believed in educating myself as I grew older.

After my family had grown, I worked many years in the Medical Records field. When my husband and I retired, we decided to move to the Paradise state of Florida to spend the rest of our lives.

I keep busy writing, drawing, and oil painting. My children are all adults now and some have passed on, but I am fortunate to have had their support in all my endeavors. I have

been truly blessed!

THE POET

A poet is a person who is filled with words inside.

What he feels that he must do is like a sort of pride.

He cannot write without a thought, without emotions too,

But knows when he has caught the words he feels are true.

The captured words come spilling out like water from a creek.

Though his flesh be weak, he must be willing for everyone to seek

And drink his words like water pure refreshing at each sip

For only then can he be sure his words are on each lip!

My son found my poems I had written long ago.

He sent them to me and—what do you know!

They were 40 years old and they were all true!

I had written them all while my family grew!
