Carol Grey Honza
Carol’s home is in Ennis, Texas, with her husband of fifty-six years, Jerry. She was born and raised in Dallas, Texas, and graduated from Sunset High School in 1958. After raising a family, Carol returned to college and graduated with a BBA in management from Northwood University in 1997. Her primary career focus was in real estate, as broker-owner and manager of an independent real estate firm for over thirty years. Following her real estate career, she worked numerous years for the federal government (FDIC), retiring in 2001. She began her writing career as a business editor for a local newspaper in 1991, and thereafter expanded her focus to include providing freelance journalistic services to numerous newspapers throughout north Texas. She published her first book in 2013, A Mystery at St. Ann’s: The Orphan’s Christmas Miracle, which evolved from a narrative poem she wrote long ago. She confesses to being a closet poet, having penned hundreds of poems over many years. Carol and her husband have four grown and married children with families of their own, which have given them nine grandchildren. They all live nearby, enabling close family entertainment and enjoyment. Other activities she enjoys include freelance writing, especially human interest articles; the thrill of finding that unique antique treasure; and fishing. She is a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Ennis, Texas, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Ennis Lions Club, Ennis Chamber of Commerce, and Friends of the Ennis Public Library. The author's book debut in 2013, A Mystery At St. Ann's -- The Orphan's Christmas Miracle has received wide-ranging positive reviews.

My Heart's Inkwell - Carol Grey Honza
My Pen, My Legacy
What shall I write about today?
What shall I set to pen?
Of love; or wealth; or butterflies;
Lost youth; found truth; brave men?
I yearn to set my pen to ink,
To tap my well within;
To heal and cleanse my tortured soul,
From doubt; from pain, from sin.
My pen can synthesize the stars
Throughout the heaven’s glow.
And, raise the heights of ecstasy,
That soars to overflow.
From caverns deep, my passions flow;
My legacy endures.
My thoughts and dreams and fantasies;
The keys I hold secure.
I, alone, can tap into
My memories, and schemes.
My choice; the time, the place or plot;
My pen to paint the scenes.
Yet when the day my flowing font
Shall somehow turn to sand;
I’ll leave my written legacy,
Tucked safely in your hands…
