Vegetarianism's History
It is beneficial to study about the beginnings of vegetarianism in order to gain a better understanding of being a vegetarian, vegetarian eating, and vegetarian cookery. Vegetarianism can be traced back to ancient Egypt, where many religious sects abstained from eating meat and wearing animal-skin apparel because of their belief in reincarnation. In ancient Greece, the practice was also observed. Most notably, the renowned philosopher Pythagoras, who is most known for his contributions to mathematics, believed that being a vegetarian was an important component of being a decent human and would contribute to a serene existence. Throughout their civilization, the Greeks disputed whether to be vegetarians. The Romans did not share this viewpoint with the Greeks. Animals were a source of food and amusement for the populace by the Romans.
Religion and Vegetarianism
Many faiths emphasize the importance of eating a vegetarian diet. Buddhism teaches compassion for all living things, and many animals are feared by Buddhists because of what they bring to people, whether it's milk or work animals to plow fields. When it came to being a vegetarian, Christians had differing opinions. Christians believe that people have dominion over all other living things
