Introduction
Heartburns are caused by excessive stomach acid leakage into the esophagus or lower throat. Acid reflux, also known as acid flow back, is a medical term for stomach acid flowing back from the patient's stomach to the esophagus. Further, the terms acid reflux syndrome, heart reflux, acid burn, and gastrointestinal acid reflux disease are used to describe the symptoms of heartburn. It is a traumatic experience that severely disrupts the life of the sufferer, especially if they experience frequent symptoms of this distressing problem. While eating and drinking, the patient must endure constant uneasiness and pain. When you lie down, the pain worsens, making it difficult to sleep. The majority of people suffer from heartburn as a result of their eating habits, while only a small percentage suffer from this condition due to their genetic make-up.
Heartburn occurs when the lower esophageal sphincter between the stomach and the esophagus fails to close properly, causing severe esophageal damage. The LES is extremely sensitive to many foods, which cause it to wobble. Acidic foods such as oranges, spicy foods such as enchiladas, and sweet foods such as chocolates are some of the potential culprits that can cause heartburn. Aside from these, there are a number of other factors that can lead to gastroesophageal disorders. It has been discovered that drinking alcohol or smoking can cause the LES (Lower Esophageal Sphincter) to fail to close properly. Furthermore, things like obesity, pregnancy, and so on put pressure or weight on the stomach, causing the food consumed to flow back.
