EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
It's almost certain you have heard about emotional quotient, EQ, and emotional intelligence before, but have you ever wondered if you are emotionally smart? Were you psychologically wise at work to go a step further? Do you have more clarity about emotional intelligence and emotional quotient? Do you agree that being book-intelligent
or having a high IQ is more important than that? Can you see why the key to success is EQ? If you've been thinking about these things, you might have wondered why emotional intelligence is so critical. I'm going to share more about emotional intelligence and its significance for every individual, every workplace, every community, and even the whole world in this book. I refer to it as the missing link to emotional intelligence. When you see it, you know it. Even if you can't recognize it. The problem is not always easy to identify when emotional maturity is missing. It is often evident that there is a problem, but it can be a mystery; what exactly is the problem.
The effective response is that the emotional intelligence or EI of an individual is often the essential factor in determining success or failure in a career path. In a declining economy, apart from downsizing, more workers are fired and fail to earn promotions because they have been unable to develop their EI than for any other reason. Parents and teachers who help young people build their EI make a significant contribution to young people's future success.
Emotional intelligence is the capacity to interpret emotions, to access and produce emotions, to recognize emotions and emotional information, and to manage emotions reflectively to foster emotional and intellectual development.
In terms of the layman, it is the extent to which we are self-conscious (capable of recognizing and knowing our emotions), capable of self-managing (capable of adapting and regulating our emotions). A person can deal constructively with their feelings and other people's emotions, a way that promotes teamwork and productivity rather than conflict. Most importantly, perhaps, it is an ability that can be taught and grown. We measure Emotional intelligence through standardized testing, and the result of these tests is called the Emotional Quotient (EQ). The higher the EQ, the better it will be. Unlike the Intelligence Quotient (IQ) is the time you reach a certain level; however, many academics and psychologists agree that EQ is malevolent and can be strengthened and trained.
Why Is Emotional Quotient Important?
EQ may not be as well-known as IQ, but it is considered more important by many experts than IQ. EQ is a better measure of the success, quality of the relationship, and satisfaction of a person. Everywhere it is evident and critical in all aspects of life. Have you ever heard anyone make statements like this: Wow, what a positive person! He'll do something amazing in life!
or She's so compassionate and friendly. She's such a great boss.
These results indicate that when someone has a high EQ (even if they don't know it), others see it and acknowledge it. Many generally believe that these types of people will most likely accomplish success. Here are the reasons why EQ is vital to everybody.
EQ is a vital part of building, developing, maintaining, and enhancing personal relationships with others. It is clear that in their fields, most likely, people who know how to create healthy relationships with other people will be successful. High-EQ employees can work in teams harmoniously and adapt to changes. No matter how intelligent you are, you may find the path to success a fight if you have low emotional intelligence. There's good news, though. Take comfort in knowing that at any age and regardless of past behavior, you can develop your EQ skills.
Self-conscious means feeling able to deal with constructive criticism. You'd probably agree that there's no perfect person in the world and we need the objections and communication from other people to do better in everything we do. If you have a high EQ, you are self-aware, which means you understand your strengths, admit your weaknesses, and understand how other people around you will be affected by your actions. Your high EQ allows you to take these critiques as an opportunity to improve your performance. EQ is a vital part of working with many stakeholders in an area.
Individuals with self-motivation will inspire others. When an individual is self-motivated, he is motivated by others around him. An ambitious, self-motivated person is guided by what matters to him/her. Who wouldn't want a person who's self-motivated, right? Motivation is infectious, and a highly motivated family, workplace, or community can consistently outperform those that are not motivated. Low-motivation may be a sign that in one or more of the main EQ quadrants, the emotional quotient is low.
EQ makes the real world. People with high emotional quotient have empathy that allows them to interact with others on an emotional level.
If a person can empathize with others, he/she will work sincerely and listen to the needs of others, even in times of difficulty, with compassion and care.
Using a high EQ means being able in all circumstances to manage yourself. For some unknown reason, your fellow employee yells angrily at you. Would you be able to control your feelings in this situation and not act the same way that he did? You see, EQ is related to how we regulate our emotions, both positive and negative. Think back to some of the decisions you're not proud of in your life. Tell yourself how many of them have to do with a lack of self-control and poor impulse control? The answer might be fantastic.
I have a challenge for you to know what you know about emotional intelligence. Ask yourself this question: are you at home and work an emotionally smart person? You're on the right track if the answer is yes! Continue along this path, reinforce your EQ skills as you go, and you may well be on your way to success. If there's no answer, don't worry. Through concentration and a sound approach, emotional intelligence is a set of skills that you can develop. Wherever you are now, believing in yourself and strengthening your emotional intelligence abilities cannot be right.
