      FOREWORD

      We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.

      2 Corinthians 4:8

      Anative of Bristol, Pennsylvania and one of seven siblings, Dion Eric Price is no stranger to chaos and dysfunction. A victor of small beginnings and a toxic childhood, he navigated the adversities that innately surrounded his youth. He was haunted by feelings of inadequacy and longed for love and support, so he navigated life wearing the mask of rejection and feeling unloved.

      After years of living in a toxic household, his mother moved him and three of his siblings to Augusta, Georgia, seeking a better life. They were in a new place, but Dion still struggled with familiar demons. A young man ridiculed for his bad acne, endowed nose and darker skin, he was rocked by hurtful teasing contributing to his suffering from low self-esteem, abandonment, and rejection.

      Navigating through life and struggling internally, he turned to using substances. Not wanting to repeat the mistakes of his father and realizing that he needed to make changes in his life, he sought a new path. Dion joined the United States Air Force where he would spend more than twenty years of his life. Traveling the world, meeting people and relishing in new experiences, he had found his niche. However, those same old demons would rear their ugly heads. Married a time or two (or three) Dion repeated the dysfunction he witnessed as a child. With no example of how to navigate manhood, let alone be a good husband, he failed at relationships. Feelings of defeat became a mainstay for him, but, God did not let his story end there... Dion gave his life to Jesus Christ and with God’s help, Dion has now turned his Adversity to his Advantage!

      With his master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, he’s using his childhood, life experiences and knowledge to make a difference in the lives of others. Dion could have given up, he could have quit on life, but there was something greater brewing in him and it has reached full fermentation. Adversity was just a pothole on the road to Advantage. Sometimes in life, it is the challenges, heartaches and disappointments that show us our worth and I know after you read this book, you will be inspired, encouraged, and motivated. Dion’s story is many of our stories. He started his life feeling rejected and at times worthless, but God showed him his value is more precious than rubies… In other words, he’s Priceless!
