All The Devils Are Here by Louise Penny is the 16th novel in the Chief Inspector Armand Gamache series. It sees Armand and his wife, Reine-Marie, away from their homeland of Quebec to celebrate in Paris the birth of their granddaughter by Annie and her husband, Jean-Guy Beauvoir, who was also his former second-in-command in the Quebec police. Stephen Horowitz, Armand’s billionaire godfather, also travels to Paris to celebrate the occasion. What started off as a joyous family affair ended in tragedy when Stephen was purposely hit by a delivery van and almost died of his injuries.

The mystery behind his attempted murder deepens when Reine-Marie while tending to Stephen’s personal effects in the hospital, noticed a hotel key among them. The two of them ventured to Hotel George V and found two interesting things in the enormous suite. One was a suitcase that didn’t look like it belonged to Stephen, and the next was the bill that showed he lied to Armand about how long he’d been staying in Paris. The pair then travelled to Stephen’s apartment and made a shocking discovery:  a man’s corpse and a fleeing
