Tips on Choosing a Shopping Cart for your Online Store
E-Commerce is a big thing among entrepreneurs and majority of them want to have their own unique stores. Being a booming industry a lot of turnkey solutions/platforms have sprang up to offer aspiring entrepreneurs with little technical knowledge to launch their own online stores. However, with plenty comes confusion and entrepreneurs are facing predicament in choosing the right platform that suits their business.
While many solutions offer some common features and others try to be unique by offering their services at lower prices. Others try to do it by offering flexibility and customization. That’s the reason I’m giving you working tips on picking the right shopping cart solution for your e-commerce store.
Some of the main features you must consider when deciding which e-commerce to pick for your business:-
1. Customization & flexibility
To make sure that your store is unique and stands out from your competitors, you must do a lot of customization work. In addition, the platform must have flexibility so that you can scale up your online store as and when the demand goes up. Maintaining a plain old looking online store just like others will not be received well by your clients.
2. Ease to use
The main reason why an e-commerce store is popular is because of the ease in shopping experience. It also applies for ecommerce platforms. For a novice entrepreneur, the most important thing is the simplicity in handling the platform. Even if the platform has more or high-end features, it will be useless if it is not easy to use. They would be spending half of their time in trying to understand when they should be concentrating on conversions and sales.
3. User-engaging template and design
User-engagement should be one of the main priorities when you are looking for an online store. If your online store is not user-friendly and engaging, there is no point in having one. The platform, as such, should have a solid design that meets all the parameters of being user-friendly.

What we learned from Amazon is that good designs are must for e-commerce sites to be successful as they keep customers engaged.

There are many popular e-commerce platforms right now. Some of them are Magento, Oscommerce, Etsy, Prestashop, Opencart etc. Picking the correct platform that reflects your business is very essential. Also look for a solution that is affordable. Remember that using cheap or even a free platform may not be good for you as they have limited functions. So, instead of spending too much time on free platforms it is better to pick a platform that gives you more functions at the lowest cost.
2. Availability of OS support
Remember to select an ecommerce platform that has support for multiple operating systems
