A Space Between Rains

About this ebook
A Space Between Rains: love poems about endings and beginnings. A poetic memoir of a life that reached a point of no return, the leaving of that life, and the stumbling search to find a life of my own where I was not invisible in the periphery of his.
I found wonderful adventures, and made a lot of mistakes. Through the hard times, I turned to the empty page when there was no place else to go, no one I dared to tell. I wrote in secret, and what I wrote began to teach me who I was. To the empty page I poured out my loneliness, my regret, my despair at the cost of the choices I had made, my fragile hopes, and my fierce blind seeking for something more. Poetry was my refuge, my therapy, my one true mirror, my small voice singing in the silence, and ultimately, my salvation.

About the Poetry / About the Author
I was born in North Carolina, grew up in Texas, dropped out of college and got married, went to the East Coast and lived the loneliest years of my life. My own life was postponed indefinitely in order to support his, and my soul had to crawl on its belly like a snake for three years.
I worked a clerical job nine-to-five at the Telephone Company while he went to grad school and had a rich stimulating social life and pursued a creative career. For me he was distant, impersonal, and oblivious, in the way that a single-parented child whose father committed suicide can be.
When he graduated and got his first job as a teacher, we moved to the frozen tundra of Minneapolis Minnesota, where I began to recover. It took a while more, but finally I realized that I had not only a right, but
