Our planet is in a state of rapid flux and evolution, in case you haven’t noticed, and so it brings me great personal and spiritual pleasure to see new books arriving onto the cosmic scene with real and actionable guidance to help support both where we are now and where we are heading to within the foreseeable future. Together, Josie and Michelle have united forces and frequencies to share their experiences and sacred wisdom; the result is a book full of practical wisdom and application that can, I believe, help prepare the reader to embody the energy needed for the coming times.
Throughout history we have considered ancient practices and peoples to be simplistic and underprepared for the times in which we live. And yet, more than ever I am seeing a resurgence of trust in ancient wisdom. In working with the seven chakra system here, the authors conjure the wisdom of the Vedas–the oldest recorded spiritual wisdom on this planet. By exploring the chakras in great detail, the authors create a physical roadmap to help the reader shift his or her current reality. Both women are so courageously confident and excited about their own healing, and through their words you get a sense of the long roads they themselves have traveled in order to arrive at their current state of healing. And while their stories are different, and of course different from yours, I have no doubt that you as reader will find yourself here. We are all one, and our healing looks both different and cosmically similar. There is one large road to Truth. On that road our journeys can look different but if you look closer and without a cynical eye, you can see how similarly Truth resonates across cultures, experiences, and identities.
What I love most about this book, and what I have found most enjoyable about it in my reading of it, is the way the authors incorporate playful exercises and inspiring journal prompts. As a writer myself, I process energetic experiences through language. If you are an artist who paints with color, or with oils, you will find the drawing space and invitation to bring your artistic skills to bear with an open heart. If you seek to embody your process more fully, each chapter includes yoga poses that incorporate chakra wisdom and sacred practice. Everything here is incredibly deep and rich, but offered in such a delicate and open way that anyone at any level of awareness will find the wisdom comforting, applicable, intoxicating, and uniquely personal.

What Does it Mean to ‘Free the Butterfly’?
Have you ever wondered how a butterfly must feel to come out of its cocoon to a brand new world where it can fly and soar high into the sky? It’s like they’re a new and improved version of their old self, and we imagine it must feel pretty darn good.
That’s what freeing the butterfly is all about—coming out of your funk, your cocoon, if you will, and feeling amazing with who you are.
When you read Josie and Michelle’s stories, you will see they both went through this funk, and they noticed a lot of women around them going through similar experiences. It seems like when we’re young, we try so hard to meet the expectations of people around us—parents, teachers, friends—that we forget about ourselves and what we want.
After a certain point, we realize doing all these things for other people does nothing for our own happiness. Many times something life-changing will happen to help us realize this, such as infertility, loss of a career, a serious accident, or the death of someone close to us. For other women, there’s no major life event to trigger this transformation, they just realize they can’t continue being unhappy, and it’s time to find their spark again—time to wake up.
