Introduction
The pervasive nature and spread of the Covid-19 virus have shocked and rocked the world we live in, putting most countries into lockdown and sending financial markets reeling. The pandemic numbers are updated daily with new cases, deaths and further challenges to be faced and decisions to be made. This has resulted in many businesses being forced into shutdown causing further distress by putting pressure on workers and landlords. Schools are closed, City centers and road are empty, in barely two months our way of life has undergone a dramatic and unprecedented change.
It is easy during this stressful time to be fearful and to let panic and fear take us hostage. The sheer volume of bad news and overwhelming sadness threatens to engulf us all. This impacts on how we approach all aspects of our lives – business/career, financial, family, personal and health. Whilst the virus threatening to affect us all is a physical illness the impact on the mental health of those unable to work and/or in isolation is predicted to be far reaching as well.
I have been wondering how we would all react if we knew everything was going to be ok. It occurred to me that how we approach the daily threats and the decisions we make will impact us all not only now but into the future. The current generations will be impacted as much or even more than 911 and the Global Financial Crisis (GFC). This is without a doubt the challenge of our lifetimes and our era.
