Understanding who you are, what makes you the person you are, and recognizing the personality traits you display yourself can allow you to understand your reactions to situations much better, allow you to make stronger decisions, and also help you understand other people much better as a result.
The Enneagram refers to the nine different personality types and styles, but it is much more than a personality profile or diagram that has nine points on an intersection of a triangle and a hexagon. It is a psycho-dynamic framework that provides a powerful model for understanding how development and integration operate.
Enneagram is a powerful guide towards finding your self-awareness, as well as finding the strengths of others around you so you can use that to build your relationships with one another.
The Enneagram is not the easiest subject in the world to grasp at first. The key is to find out your core personality type because from that point you can begin to explore your actual internal personality, based on the Enneagram Types.
Determining your personality type through the Enneagram does not put you in a box, but help you see the box from which we experience the world. With this awareness, you can step outside of your limited perspective. Ideally, personality is an effective way to express yourself, but challenges arise when your point of view becomes rigid and you get stuck in automatic habits. Introduction
The Enneagram is a unique system that focuses on nine basic behavioral types/patterns people develop. The Enneagram is also very extensive in personal growth for individual types, and ways to really grow into who you truly are.
It is a wonderful tool, but a tool is only as good as the purposes it’s used for. As you discern the types of other people in your life, you can use the Enneagram to navigate interactions, being mindful of your own biases and tailoring communication to their goals and perspectives. You can introduce the system to groups, creating a common language for members to understand each other.
The following pages will infuse you with something more powerful than you might have ever imagined. Get ready to come face to face with your Enneagram Personality.
Simply put, this book will answer the big question. Why do you do what you do whether or not it's voluntary? It unveils the underlying motives behind each of us, and it will help you gain clarity on the patterns that are not serving you so you can improve upon them as well as shine a light on the positive traits that you need to be taking advantage of.
This Enneagram book sheds so much light on self-awareness and personal growth. Decide to look deep inside you for the things you like the most and the things you would want to change to be a better version of yourself. Learning about your Enneagram personality type is one of the catalysts to making a positive change in your life as it offers an opportunity to discover the patterns of thinking, feeling, how to interact with each other, communicate, handle conflicts and behaviors that either support or act as a barrier to good working and human relationships.
Take a bold step and make a difference in your life. You will thank the Enneagram for your own successful personal growth.
Chapter 1: What is an Enneagram?
The way our minds work out personality differences, the things that separate us from one another, the core of what makes us who we are can be a fascinating study. Yet, much of this can be explained by a unique analysis system called the Enneagram, the accuracy of which has been a marvel for millions of people. Amazed at how well it can determine a specific personality type and how easily it can predict behaviors has caused people to wonder if there was a spiritual element to the system.
The most fruitful applications of the Enneagram come from using it for growth. Observe the ways your personality’s desires shape your actions. Notice when self-talk is monopolizing your attention, taking you out of the moment, and preventing you from fully engaging and use these moments of observation as a wake-up call to return your attention to the world around you and make active, conscious choices. It’s up to you to take what you’ve learned from the Enneagram and apply it in the ways that best fit your personal needs and circumstances.
Most of us go through life trying to deal with its struggles, challenges, and demands utterly unaware of the fact that there is a difference between the true self and the personality ego self that deals with everyday living. To be yourself
is easier to say than done in our society because we often get tangled up in mass consciousness and leave very little room for authentic self-expression and self-understanding. That's what the Enneagram is all about. It's a tool designed to help you simplify and increase your knowledge of self and in the process transcend your present level of human consciousness.
In a world layered with illusions, where everyone wears a mask on a daily basis, those who've grown tired of masquerades are thirsty for truth and authentic self-expression. This isn't something new as the quest has been ongoing for centuries now. Since the time of Socrates and even further back, there have always been those seeking the real knowledge of who they are. However, something is changing in our society.
Unfortunately, few people are aware of this inner being and so fail to grasp its importance. In today’s modern world, the majority of people are a product of their environment where the focus is on building up external connections while seeking personal fulfillment at the same time so they are not focused on feeding the inner person. In generations past, the concept of building up the spiritual person within was a normal part of human existence, but as times changed and more technology made life a world of immediate gratification, the idea of the spiritual person came to be viewed as something contrary to science.
It is not common to find environments today that actually support the idea of exploring one’s spirituality and following its calling. As a matter of fact, it is more likely one will be mocked as being unenlightened and following archaic customs. Yet, for those who dare to explore it, this journey is one that actually makes it easier to fit into this modern world that we live in. Ironically, once we have come to understand our unique Enneagram personality, a natural extension of this knowledge allows us to have better relationships with others, to meet challenges more effectively, and to live on the surface with the rest of the world more comfortably. In essence, it makes those external connections easier and less daunting.
Every day people are in search of a deeper meaning in life. In our modern and progressive world, the automatic tendency is to look outside of ourselves for that sense of purpose which is sad because the real answer to what makes us who we are has little to do with our external environment. So, while so many are searching to find their purpose in the praise of others, in thrill-seeking adventures life has to offer and even in the bottom of a bottle or drugs, many will be surprised to discover that the real answer to their true self is already within their possession.
While these external forms of stimulation and self-fulfillment can provide some level of support and personal edification, the positive results they provide are often fleeting. This is because they don’t feed the inner core of our beings, the essence of who we are. Through the pages of this book, we begin to learn to see ourselves with the eyes of insight rather than through physical connections. It will give you crystal clarity as you begin to identify patterns within your own personal human nature that you never fully understood before.
If you want to be totally honest with yourself, then learning how to identify and read Enneagram personalities is probably the single most important
