About this ebook

Part 2 of The Sun Aegis.

Driven out of their homes in the warm forests down south, the werewolves find themselves fleeing to the north.

Series Synopsis:
~ Once more, a knight sets forth, hoping to regain something that she had lost - justice. ~

Anna's mentor, Isabelle, had always taught her that being a knight was about justice and protecting the people.
But, that was a long time ago.
Now, a new king has been crowned, and he cares naught for justice nor his people. Ordered to do so, Anna reluctantly joins the other human knights in a campaign to massacre and drive out the werewolves, the merfolk, and the vampires - destroying the peace between the four species.
Having lost her way, Anna continues fighting for this rotten king. That is, until she fell in battle.
As she laid there, on the battlefield, an unexpected saviour whisks her far away.
Having been given a second chance, and no longer bound to that rotten king, Anna sets out to find her way back to the justice that she had lost - hoping to atone for her sins, and to protect the people from the king.

Chapter 1: Werewolves in the North

I kicked the snow with my boots.

Looking down at my boots, I chuckled sadly.

I never thought that I would be wearing boots, I thought to myself.

Then again, most of us – werewolves, that is – never thought that we would be wearing clothes at all. It was such a… human thing. We were usually naked. And that wasn't a problem when we were living in the forests down south.

We had lived peacefully in packs in the forests. During the day, most of us would be naked in our human forms, letting the warm sunlight bathe over us. If we had to hunt, then we would transform into our werewolf forms. During the night, we would be forced to transform into our werewolf forms – but, it kept us warm in the nighttime.

Back then, I was a hunter for our pack, as well as part of the guard. Though, during those peaceful times, I rarely had to be a guard.

That was before. Before the knights came, and drove us from our forests.

We were at peace with the humans for many years, living in the forests of our kingdom.

But then, the old king died, and his son ascended to the throne.

The new king betrayed us, and drove us from our homes. We were longer part of the kingdom.

Many of us had been slaughtered by the new king's armies. I was lucky enough to survive.

Now, I was part of a pack that was made up of the remnants of several packs that had been attacked and chased out of their homes. We had been driven north, into the cold.

I pulled my coat tighter around me to keep out the cold. We had haphazardly fashioned our coats out of bear skins and furs.

I looked at my brothers and sisters of the pack. Most of us were in clothing that we were able to make – shoddily. Some of us had taken to just being in our werewolf forms permanently.

Perhaps when the summer comes – if we live that long – we can frolic in the forest without these clothes on again. But, for now, in order to survive in the winter snow, we
