Super Cute Origami Ebook - Yuki Martin
WELCOME TO MY ORIGAMI KIT!
If you combine the words decorate
and origami,
you get decorigami! Decorigami is a made-up word to describe projects that are to be embellished, doodled, or colored. Origami purists may call this cheating, but decorating a model doubles the fun!
This booklet is a collection of decorigami projects, accompanied by paper and embellishments. We designed this kit for crafty and curious kids, who love to not only fold and decorate paper, but also explore other cultures through many of the included projects.
I hope you enjoy this kit! —Yuki Martin
MEET YOUR GUIDES: KAMI KAMI AND ORIHIME
These two fictional characters will appear throughout the book as your friendly guides.
KAMI KAMI
Kami means at least two things in Japanese: paper
and god.
Kami Kami is the Paper God, who governs all things that have to do with paper. He has traveled throughout the world with paper and is an expert at all paper art forms. His exact age is not clear, but he’s estimated to be around 2,100 years old, which is roughly how long ago paper was invented in China.
ORIHIME
Ori means to fold,
and hime (pronounced hee-may
) means princess
in Japanese. Orihime is the Folding Princess. She is learning all about the art form from Kami Kami. Once she becomes an origami expert, she will become an ambassador; demonstrating, displaying, and teaching origami all over the world.
HOW TO USE THIS KIT
I designed this kit to be on-the-go,
and you can do most projects with the items provided in the box. However, a paper cutting tool, glue, and drawing materials may come in handy.
