About this ebook

Elton John is one of pop music’s great survivors. He was a singer, songwriter and composer who discovered his passion for music at an early age. Elton worked with lyricist Bernie Taupin as his songwriting partner since 1967; they have collaborated on more than 30 albums to date. He fused many strands of popular music and stylish showmanship as Elvis Presley in a concert and recording career that included the sale of hundreds of millions of records. This British rock star was also knighted by the Queen for his contributions to the British pop music and his work in raising money for Aids charities. Elton John also holds the record for the second best selling single of all time with “Candle in the Wind”, which he wrote to honor Marilyn Monroe and later performed as a tribute to his friend, the late Princess Diana. Here in this book we have made an attempt to brief his life story and showcase some of his inspiring quotes.

    ABOUT ELTON JOHN

Elton John is a famous British singer and composer and regarded as one of the bestselling musicians of the former century. Being into the world of music at a younger age, his unique fusion of pop and rock styles made him a prominent music figure.

Elton John had the name Reginald Kenneth Dwight after his birth on 25 March 1947. This talented boy taught himself how to play piano at an age of four and was much skilled to earn a scholarship at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He dropped out from school at an age of 17, giving much distress to his father who wished him to join the RAF. He along with some friends formed the band Bluesology, and it was at that time he changed the name to Elton John, a combination of names of two of his fellow musicians.

In 1967, he acquainted with lyricist Bernie Taupin to a partnership that lasts till now. Both of them applied to an ad from Liberty Records and soon became thick friends as both of them shared same interests in music. Their self-titled first album ‘Elton John’ in 1970 which climbed up the charts so was their following albums, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road’ (1973) and ‘Rock of the Westies’ (1975). He grew into an equal fame for his live shows in which he appeared quite fabulous way. He took a break from music in 1976 and concentrated on his own football club Watford Football Club. During this time he had to suffer severe taunts with personal revelation about his bisexuality. But those controversies had a short span as he returned to the arena with the hit ‘A Single Man’.
