    INT. HOTEL/RECEPTION. DAY

    Halley (45) executive dressed but not neatly, goes to reception to check out

    TV announces the crash of flight 633 on the News behind the receptionist in mute.

    RECEPTIONIST

    Would you like to pay with the credit card that you booked your reservation with?

    HALLEY

    (Thinking)

    No, I’ll settle in cash. Did I run up any fees?

    RECEPTIONIST

    No Mrs. Johnson, breakfast is complementary. Here is your receipt.

    Halley pays in cash and drops the flight 633 ticket on the floor. Someone notices it.

    RECEPTIONIST

    Thank you for your stay in our hotel. Have a wonderful day.

    HALLEY

    Thanks.

    Halley goes out quickly.

    The Bellboy picks the airline ticket up and shows it to the receptionist. She realizes that it is in Halley’s name and tells the bellboy get her attention.

    EXT.VALET PARKING. DAY

    The bellboy runs up to her and hands her ticket.

    BELLBOY

    Mrs. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson ... your ticket.

    HALLEY

    (surprised)

    Thanks.

    Halley continues on and walks out to the street.

    EXT. SPORT STORE. DAY

    Halley enters the sporting goods store, then leaves having changed into a sports outfit with dark glasses and a cap.

    EXT. SQUARE. DAY

    Halley walks towards an ice cream vendor in the square.

    A paper boy is walking around. She looks at the front page: Airliner Crashes into the Sea.

    She talks to the ice cream vendor who points her in one direction.

    She buys an ice cream, walks around, sits on a bench in the square, opens her wallet and sees a photo of her family. She drops the photo on the ground face down. She picks it up and see her Daughter DENISE (16) with her wearing a basketball uniform.

    FLASHBACK:

    EXT. BASKETBALL COURT DAY

    Halley and DENISE (15) are playing an intense game of one-on-one both physically and mentally.

    Some trash-talk on both sides…

    Halley shoots a sky hook and scores.

    HALLEY

    Like that one? That’s my pterodactyl shot!

    Denise makes an crossover move. Halley recovers and stays in front of her. Both jump to the hoop. Denise scores

    DENISE

    So, you’re saying you’re a dinosaur? Not today, grandma!!!

    HALLEY

    I’ll give you a shot

    DENISE

    Oh, so generous!

    Halley almost steals the ball. Denis makes a fake to the left and shoots her fadeaway.

    HALLEY

    If you clang it, you lose!

    Denise scores

    DENISE

    The LA Sparks’ old lady tryouts start next week! You should go!

    HALLEY

    Ooooh! Someone likes to talk smack!! Watch this!!!

    Halley makes a jab step and sinks the three.

    DENISE

    Alright, Let’s see if you can d me up?

    Denise makes double crossovers and dunks it. Halley is annoyed

    HALLEY

    Eurostep is travelling, y’know? But they never call it in the NBA. Your mamma was recruited by the Lady Vols. Don’t you forget it!!

    On the last shot, Halley gives her a hard foul, but Denis keeps going, changes hands in midair, and scores.

    DENISE

    Well Ms. Rocky Top wannabe, you just got sauced!!!

    HALLEY

    Damn! I want a rematch.

    DENISE

    Maybe tomorrow. I don’t want you to break your hip.

    PRESENT:

    INT. DENISE'S ROOM/HALLEY’S HOUSE. DAY

    A Room decorated with posters of WNBA Players, basketball, a mini basket ring.

    Denise (16) passes the basketball to her friend Tonya (15).

    DENISE

    When I beat my ma' at triple O's (One-on-one)for the first time, I felt I could beat anyone… But now… without her, I feel like a newborn baby, my fears and insecurities had vanished, but now they came back… I can't focus for shit now that she’s gone I miss her a lot.

    TONYA

    I'll be by your side, buddy. I know you’re workin' through it. I'll help you get through. OK? Why not go out and play? Get some sun? Then I'll treat you to an ice cream. Just like your ma' did. What d'ya say?)

    DENISE

    Thanks, thanks for hangin’ by me ... okay let's go.

    Denise and Tonya leave the room with the ball.

    EXT. CAR DEALERSHIP. DAY

    At the distance, Halley arrives at the car dealership and gets in.

    EXT./INT. CAR DEALERSHIP. DAY

    Halley gets out riding a car.

    INT. CAR. DAY

    She is going fast and staring off into the horizon.

    EXT. HIGHWAY. NIGHT

    The car travels along a road.

    INT. LOREN'S ROOM/HALLEY'S
