About this ebook

This easy to read and insightful book aims to help set the groundwork for finding Wabi Sabi, the way of seeing beauty in everything, which stems from the imperfection, the state of continuous withering or decay, and the simplicity that can be found in nature and in objects.

Wabi Sabi is to view the world with much appreciation for the signs of aging, and the embrace of nature found throughout everyday life.

Wabi Sabi is something that is consistently lost, misplaced, or ignored. This book will help you "find" the "way" for being one with Wabi Sabi. To find Wabi Sabi, one must know what Wabi Sabi is, and what Wabi Sabi isn't. This book will help guide you on how to flip the switch to see things, people, and yourself in a new light.

This book aims to give you a GPS or map to locate it, the binoculars to spot it, a net to trap it, and a mirror to reflect it back on to you.

Finding Wabi Sabi - Luis Ruvalcaba

    Finding Wabi Sabi

This easy to read and insightful book aims to help set the groundwork for finding Wabi Sabi, the way of seeing beauty in everything, which stems from the imperfection, the state of continuous withering or decay, and the simplicity that can be found in nature and in objects.

Wabi Sabi is to view the world with much appreciation for the signs of ageing, and the embrace of nature found throughout everyday life.

Wabi Sabi is something that is consistently lost, misplaced, or ignored. This book will help you find the way for being one with Wabi Sabi.

    The Search

So how do we begin the search for Wabi Sabi? Where does the hunt commence for this elusive treasure? The name itself, Wabi Sabi, makes it seem more difficult to find than a unicorn or a mermaid. This mythical creature which began to rise and take shape in the 14th century has been found and captured by some, all while remaining hidden to the masses despite the old age of Wabi Sabi. This creature is among us, yet, it remains hidden away in the shadows. Those lucky few who have once captured it can still let it slip away once again  even after being caught. Wabi Sabi is one of those things that are in plain sight, yet, so easy to miss, which makes it even more mystical.

Among perfectly sculpted skyscrapers that cover our skylines and obscure our views of the clouds, they cannot hide the sight of Wabi Sabi. Among our self-driving cars, automatic devices, and precision machinery; Wabi Sabi remains a shapeless, odd looking, manual intensive thing among the perfect. Among our smartphones, smartwatches, and smart tv's, Wabi Sabi exists without an interface or design that we can interact with. We have network coverage everywhere, and wifi signal at every turn, yet we remain naked from the blanket of Wabi Sabi.

When we look into our handheld devices, we see a picture perfect world staring back at us. Perfect people, perfect sunsets, and perfect lives that come through the many channels of social media that are consumed every day and at every moment. But when you look up for a second away from your device, you realize that the world in front of you isn't like this, it's,,,, imperfect, it's,,,, ugly,,,, it's,,,,, decaying. But when you see the ugliness, the decay, and the imperfection through the scope of Wabi Sabi,,,, it's,,,,,,, perfect. Once you've found Wabi Sabi, you don't require filters, nor autocorrections, nor anything high-tech to discover a beautiful place which is made from the imperfection, the ugly, and the decaying. You want to know what the funny part is? That we're just that, we are imperfect, we are ugly, and we are decaying, yet, that is what makes us perfect. This is the mythical creature many never come to find.

    The Paradox

So going back to the question, how do we find Wabi Sabi? This question is a sort of paradox though, as how do you search for something that isn't to be found? How do you find what hasn't been missing? Have
