The View from the Fifty-Yard Line: A Cheerleader’S Story
By Brandi Jones
()
About this ebook
Some of the greatest football fans in the world purchase seats on the fifty-yard line, but only a select few actually have the privilege of touching the turf. Brandi Jones does not have to imagine standing four quarters on the sidelines of a football game: she was a professional cheerleader in the NFL.
Jones shares a unique perspective from the fifty-yard line as she offers an intriguing look into a professional cheerleaders role on game day. Jones, who started cheerleading at a young age, leads others through her personal journey as she discovered a love for cheering, trained and prepared for the game like an athlete, and fiercely competed for spots on squads. While demonstrating that cheerleading is not really all about hair and makeup, Jones highlights behind-the-scenes realities as she details grueling practices, promotional appearances, and skill requirements, proving that inner strength and grit determine whether a cheerleader succeeds or not.
The View from the Fifty-Yard Line shares a former NFL cheerleaders take on the successes and failures, ups and downs, and glory and pain she experienced while cheering for some of the greatest football teams ever.

I
dedicate my first book to all my family. Specifically, to my mother: Yvonne Ragland. Thank you for the sacrifices you’ve made for me, and allowing me to find my own path to pursue my goals and dreams. Without you, of course, I would not be here today.
To my father: Reverend Jacob Jones. You’re definitely one of a kind. There is no one like you, and if anyone has a story to tell, its you!
To my brothers: Devon Ashley and Jay Jones—the most talented musicians I’ve ever known. Thank you for your support and sharing your talent for game day entertainment throughout the season. And my twin (we’re not really twins) Jamika Jones! Thanks for allowing me to be your singing, dancing, and cheerleading side-kick for all these years. And to every other family member under the lineage of Daisy Harris (maternal grandmother), Regina Jones (paternal grandmother), Henrietta (Harris) Drake (great-aunt), and Agnes (Harris) Taylor (great-aunt), and all other family members and friends.
Thank you all for the support and encouragement you have given me, and for allowing me to sacrifice time spent with you just so I could be game-day ready! I love you! And May God continue to bless you all!
3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
Introduction
With the surge of movies related to cheerleaders, I would say that cheerleading has become a very popular sport.
And in deciding to write this book, including what to share and why it is important, I thought about what a popular judge once shared: use your experience to inspire others. As a cheerleader with over fifteen years of experience, I have learned a lot about the business and understand what it takes, not only how to make the team but how to have longevity in the sport of cheerleading. I have accomplished many personal goals, and I have attained successes I never set out to achieve. This includes being an all-American cheerleader, cheering in the Super Bowl,
