About this ebook

Carol Grace's first book, "Reflections of a life well spent" was autobiographical in nature, while "More than a Memory" is more diverse, including poems of nature, poems written as a tribute to others, and poems of faith and inspiration.

Mrs. Grace says this about her newest collection of poems:

"More than a Memory" deals with everyday observations and the simple joy of letting words spill from my thoughts and onto paper. I have had a love affair with words all of my life. Poetry happens when thought becomes image, image becomes word, and words join together to form meaning that is often unique to each reader. It is my hope that "More Than a Memory" will trigger your own fond memories, and moreover, that you would be encouraged, if not challenged, to continue to make new memories, not letting the days get away from you."

"More than a Memory" is not a book for the literary few, but for everyone who loves to hear a good story. Poetry has the ability to convey an entire story with an economy of words. You might find yourself reading the entire book in one sitting, but more likely you will read just a few poems at a time, luxuriating over the way the words make you feel. Although the subject matter may be bleak, the poem can still be beautiful because of word choice and the way it sounds when read aloud.

Carol's poetry is written with the knowledge that there is power in the word, and we must learn to choose our words wisely. May the words in "More than a Memory" inspire you, bring a laugh or two, and comfort you.

Carol J. Grace

In her introduction, Carol Grace mentions that she wrote some of this poetry thirty years ago. Well, I was there in her life, and she in mine. We had both been touched by the Spirit of God and were on a quest for as much of Him as we could handle. Decades later, Carol’s pursuit has never flagged, and we all stand to learn so much through her sharing. What I know is that she is devoted to Jesus, and her way with words benefits us as she consistently spreads the joy of the Gospel, whether in writing or from the pulpit but mostly by her walk with Christ. Sometimes we can use literary devices to embed within our understanding and our hearts the deep principles of a walk with God. Carol’s poetry, followed by her thoughts about each subject, has a fluidity and economy that serves this goal well, as it brings profound thoughts to one’s spirit. Like the Sound of Many Waters echoes my own association of God’s voice with water, yet she elevates that comparison, raising God’s water-voice above the temporal rhythms of rain and brook. God’s voice penetrates one’s being and brings life and refreshment in a way earthly water flows can only hint. He Knelt Down for Me left me humbled, and Original Sin reminds us of the foundational truth that all are badly in need of a Savior. These topics, enriched by Carol’s words, warrant repeated reflection or they are lost in the tumult of today’s world. I will use Hope for Today, Peace for Tomorrow daily to remind me of the source of our hope and peace in these troubled times. You who read this book will be blessed. Cynthia S. Moody, JD Author, ““DoodleGirl Poetry and Thoughts””

    Comments from readers

Your poetry touches something deep inside each and every woman of our generation and beyond. As I read your work, it is so rewarding to recognize things familiar, but even more, to realize things overlooked and rarely mentioned. You bring to light the inner recesses of a woman’s soul.

The Chinese have a saying, a poem in every painting, a painting in every poem. With the stroke of her pen, Carol Grace skillfully paints many pictures with her words. More Than a Memory by Carol Grace is more than just memories.  It is about remembering the past, connecting with the present, and looking to the future with faith.   It is like standing on the line of time looking back to see where you’ve been, looking around to see where you are, and looking forward to see where life’s journey will take you.

More than a Memory is a wonderful collection of Carol’s reflections and perspectives that begin in the memories of the mind and takes you to the very heart and soul of the human journey.  ’Tis grace has bro’t me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.
