- Definition 'a man or woman with the authority or influence to command, direct or inspire followers'.
It has been stated that the major factor which distinguishes successful organisations from their less successful counterparts is the presence of dynamic and effective leadership. It has also been commented that leadership is the most studied subject in the world, but the least understood.
One’s leadership is defined by that individual’s character, knowledge and actions. There are a number of complex considerations to be acknowledged for a leader to be effective in his or her position. As well as the ongoing personal development requirements, a leader must recognize that there is no leader without followers, and there are no followers without the belief that a certain leader will be the right person to carry an organization
