About this ebook
Author’s Message
A while back my cousin Francie e-mailed me, “You post a lot of Arizona wildflowers online. Why don’t you put them in a book?” I had never thought of doing such a thing, but once planted the seed grew and now there are four books in the collection. I took all the photographs and they appear just as they were captured – unedited, cropped only in camera, and without photo retouch or enhancement. Our flowers don’t need it. I have thoroughly enjoyed camping, hiking, walking, tripping, stumbling and falling, and dodging the occasional diamondback and snowbird to capture these bursts of Arizona color. I hope you enjoy the books as much as I have enjoyed bringing them to you.

(God enriches) Arizona State Motto
My state of Arizona is a land of contradictions. The timeless power of earth and space-blasted rock competes for our attention with the delicate and short-lived flashes of beauty the land wears as ornamentation. They’re in a massive and eons long battle for supremacy. Aided by wind and rain the tiny-and-delicate slowly and patiently reform the fields and wear down the mightiest mountain. There can be no ultimate victor for the combatants are locked in an eternal embrace. The only winner who can truly appreciate the battle is the human being. Flowers shape our mental, emotional and even our religious world as much as they reshape the physical one. Nowhere is that more obvious than in the plains, hills, mountains and valleys of Arizona. I hope you enjoy these flashes of power and beauty as much as I enjoyed being among, photographing and sharing
