Two Steps To ForGIFTness
()
About this ebook
I have coined the word ‘forgiftness’ to amplify forgiveness. For-gift-ness is a forward motion. It is the vehicle that moves or propels you forward. It moves you from the place of ‘stuckness’ to ‘unstuckness’. Having received forgiveness, you desire to have others experience what you have felt. For that to happen, you have to offer your forgiveness as a gift. It is a gift from the heart.
The following questions will help you determine if you should read this ebook.
1.Have you ever had the thought of offering forgiveness to someone who has hurt you, but your heart screamed no?
2.Have you ever felt confused about whether or not you should forgive?
3.Do you at times think some offense should be unforgivable?
4.Do you fear that forgiving someone is letting them off the hook and making it too easy for them?
5.Do you feel like you have not forgiven someone because you still have thoughts about what was done to you?
If you have ever had any of the above thoughts or could see yourself wrestling with similar questions, then you are the ideal reader I have in mind.
If you have not, then you too are the ideal reader because you will learn some principles you will need in the future.

ForGIFTness
People are often unreasonable and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
Mother Teresa, missionary to the people of India.
The word ForGIFTness is one that that is coined to look at the subject of forgiveness through a different lens. This lens will give you an opportunity to approach forgiveness as a gift that is given rather than something that has been coerced upon you. Many people have a desire to forgive, but because of their understanding of what is being asked of them, they find it a very difficult thing to do.
In this book, I will offer you a new lens through which to look, one that you may not have considered or heard before. I only ask that you read with an open mind and prayerfully consider the steps I will be outlining.
The following questions will give you an idea of the areas that will be covered in this book. They are also designed to have you give thought to the issue(s) that are requiring you to make the decision to forgive. Read each question carefully.
Have you ever had the thought of offering forgiveness to someone who has hurt you, but your heart screamed no?
Have you ever felt confused about whether or not you should forgive?
Do you at times think some offense should be unforgivable?
Do you fear that forgiving someone is letting them off the hook and making it too easy for them?
Do you feel like you have not forgiven someone because you still have thoughts about what was done to you?
If you have ever had any of the above thoughts or could see yourself wrestling with similar questions, then you need to read on. If you have not, then you need to pay close attention to the steps provided, because you will need them one day.
As a backdrop, I want to briefly share with you what forgiveness is not. There are three things that I will mention.
First, it is not a feeling. Feelings are fluid. They are not stagnant. They change frequently. They are generally not the best indicators of reality. Feelings easily skew what is really happening, most times exaggerating the reality. It does not have an IQ.
Because of the unreliability of this emotion, it is never advisable to use it to determine whether
