FOREWORD
By Cylk Cozart
Award Winning Hollywood Actor, producer, writer and philanthropist
The first man that a girl meets is usually her father or a father figure. Therefore from that moment forward, the young girl's impression of men begins.
I was born to a teenage mother. I witnessed her metamorphosis from a teenager all the way to adulthood. From a young boy's perspective, I saw how men of all ages treated my mother in different stages of her life and how she responded to their treatment. Throughout those years, I learned respect. I listened more than I talked. I learned what not
to do or say in many situations.
Kissing Frogs,
takes the reader on a practical, realistic, down to earth, and (sometimes humorous) journey that exposes several signs that lead to verbal or physical abuse, bullying and compromising situations.
Lauren Galley's intelligent writing provides a comfortable environment in which to have real conversations, including role playing and games (similar to acting exercises) that bring out true emotions. Once this revelation occurs, one is truly empowered with more choices for dealing with the many pressures in today's society.
Boys and girls, men and women are different in many ways.
Friendships, marriage and relationships don't come with instructions. Each union is different and unique, so they should be treated as such.
Guys: please don't speak to girls like they are one of your boys
in the locker room! When you playfully joke around, (verbally or physically), find a comfort level that she enjoys.
Girls: please don't think that a boy likes you or loves you just because he gives you compliments! He has to earn
your affection (like or love) through consistently showing respect, kindness, (to others, not just toward you), compassion and most importantly empathy.
Girls or Ladies: If you are having a conversation with a boy or man, who speaks disrespectfully toward his parents (especially his mother)... RUN! Because down the road, you WILL be next.
The same goes for us guys.
When we don't pay attention to the signs along life's road, we become lost or even worse.
In a very cool way Kissing Frogs
shows us, through Lauren's insightful, witty and uplifting scenarios, how girls and boys, men and women can find their own personal way
toward happiness and self-empowerment!
Lauren, I love and respect you with all my heart and soul. I am honored to know you, and I'm so thankful to God that I'm a better man because you are in my life.
Respectfully,
Cylk CozArt
frogKISSING FROGS
Yuck, you say! So do I, but this seems to be the path I’ve been on for the past several years in search of my Prince. As a child, I dreamed about the movies where the Princess kisses a frog and then suddenly he morphs into a handsome Prince. Wow, wow, wow! I have no such luck! I am still kissing frogs.
Frogs are funny little creatures. If you pick one up to hold him, he will instantly release a fluid to protect himself. You think he peed all over your hand and quickly drop him. While he happily hops away, disappearing into the night, you are recovering from the shock of what just happened. He’s thinking… I showed her!
Remember this little tidbit while searching for your Prince… Kissing Frogs can be a learning experience that will disappoint you, scare you, hurt you and surprise you. It will eventually lead you in the right direction toward finding your true love. It will probably take years, but… hey… chill. You’re young, you have plenty of time and the journey will be a mind-blowing experience. Who knows, in five years from now, you may be writing a book like this! You don’t know what the dating world has in store for you until you say yes
to that very first frog. Then, grab your seats girls, for a ride on the world’s ultimate rollercoaster!
Now… let’s get into some real girl talk… gory details! There’s Princes, frogs, and the worst ones of all… toads.
Okay, pretty girls… you hold in your hands the ultimate guide to high school dating. Chances are, you will have at least one or two Ah ha!
moments as you dive into this book. You may realize that you have made mistakes and after reading this book, you may also realize that your current Prince Charming may not be The One.
This is what dating at your age is all about.
I was in high school just a few years ago, so I remember all too well what it is like and I understand the pressures there are to have a boyfriend. When you’re single you should use these years as your learning period. We all make mistakes, so let’s make them while we still live at home with our parents and life is fairly simple. Parents can also give us the support we need while going through the trauma of break ups.
It may sound funny to say that we should practice
dating, but that is totally what high school is all about. Chances are, the boyfriend you choose during your freshman year, is not going to be the one waiting for you at the altar! In fact, you will look back on him ten years from now and say What was I thinking?!
Let’s get those embarrassing moments out of the way now, so when Prince Charming does come riding up on his horse (or in his pickup truck) we know the red flags to look out for, how to communicate wisely and how to put our own happiness first. If you are not happy, then your relationship with the guy will be way off balance.
It is important to know that the stories transcribed on these pages are true. They happened to me personally (Yes, someone can have a streak of that much bad luck), but in the end, I have learned a lot of good lessons. I am sharing them with you so that you can learn from my mistakes and hopefully save yourself from a few heartbreaks. Of course, I changed all the names in this book to protect their privacy. You will discover that everyone changes a lot after high school, so I like to believe that some of those frogs
mentioned in this book have learned their lessons and re-invented themselves into a Prince.
I know I have changed a lot, so I am not here to point fingers, since I have had my fair share of Why did I just say/do that?
moments.
Pour yourself an iced coffee, snuggle up in a comfy seat and
